Kay, I no longer care anymore. For all you oh so important people who think we should give you the moon and the stars because you have been a cust with us for sooooo many years! Back before cell phones even existed. wow, i'm extremely impressed that you've been with us since the 1800's. Go jump off a cliff. Or perhaps you should start your own cell company and say 'yes! by all means, we'll give you a free phone in return for no contract commitment, PLUS an unlimited calling plan for 19.99 a month where you can call ANYWHERE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE of the wonderful US of A at the low low cost of .2/min' and see where that gets you. I don't care anymore if you call up threatening to cancel because you are a spoiled little american BRAT who think...

Was that supposed to be a threat, reminder or just some spur of the moment comment that you came up with? What if this person was actually thinking (or in the process)of leaving the job instead of being "let go"? Convergys does have other clients that they can get in place of Cingular, but I'm sure Cingular is bringing in loads of green to this call center that they would prefer a much higher employee turn over compared to last year's than having to retrain employees with the P&P for a new client.

On your defense, on the other hand, I had a Quebecer that called in last night wanting to make a payment using his Canadian credit card with a Canadian billing address. He claimed that OCS gave him the option to use a Canadian CC yet the ZIP/Pos...

Why are we losing our jobs???

They wouldn't pay all this money to train us then cancel the contract.

And besides cingular is thinking of coming to canada so they will need us and if we lose our contract with Cingular well OH WELL then we can pick up another company that maybe knows a thing or two about customer service!!!

Hey, the Klein gummint gives Convergys $3000.00 per employee that attends day one of training. Quit after that one day, and they STILL get the dosh. Trust me, a high turnover might not be the best for the Convergys business plan, but it certainly doesn't hurt them all that much.

Any proof of this? Whats the source. I find that VERY interesting.....
That would explain why Convergys has 3 sites in Alberta!

well if they do they do their loss!! we can always pick up other contracts (not that I plan to work here that long or anything) I've been here long enough!

and they always say they are going to let us go but when you work at a call centre that has better stats and better results then the internals and you are cheap labour I doubt they are going to let ya go. But C'est la vie

Ooooh typical he said, she said b*ull$h1t. I mean come on, think about it, this really isn't a threat to our employment. We are an outsource call center. If Cingular does end its ties with Convergys, there are other clients out there that NEED outsource contact centers.

The only outsourced contract that is being allowed to expire, as far as all the info from the direct Cingular trainers I've spoken with, is the Indian contract. None of them have been trained and they've made no attempts to convert them over, which I believe is a very good business decision. If not simply because of common sense, but for customer satisfaction. I've never spoken with a customer that stated they were tired of talking to "those damn Americans" and wanted to be transferred to someone in India.

I may be no customer, but I would prefer speaking to someone in India then an American. 😉

They told me the same thing in Guyana (northeast coast of South America). The church I was preaching for at the time dumped me off in the middle of the rainforest with about ten other people for two weeks. Luckily the locals speak English since Guyana was a British settled colony, but there was still an obvious language barrier.

the best post ever. i am so tired of customers thinking that they should be able to get whatever they want just because they are a customer. guess what mr. customer - **** off!!! i've been banking with the same institution for some time so i guess i should be able to go in and demand a higher interest rate or free money and if i don't get it i'll stomp my little feet and say "if you don't give it to me i'll take my $400 and go elsewhere!" you know what - they would say fine. as a former manager of mine once said "the $100 you pay each month is nothing more than a drop of piss in the ocean to these guys." so mr. customer don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya!
