Blue V551 Questions

For those of you familiar with the Motorola V551 can you tell me what kind of battery life I should be getting? I talked to a rep who told me that some of these had hardware problems that suck battery life.

Also, how can I tell if my phone is unlocked? I just upgraded to this phone two weeks ago from ATT/Business, but there's no branding on the handset except an orange "jack" button directly above the green answer button.

So if this is a Cingular phone, did they lock it to ATT/Cingular Blue? I'm currently a Cing Blue customer and wondering if I switch to Cing Orange if this phone will continue to work with a new SIM card for Cing Orange.

I looked at the battery stats. If I fully charge, by the end of the second day I'm down to a half charge, then it's pretty much gone by the end of the second day. That's using about 30 minutes of talk time combined during those 2 or 3 days. Seems like really poor battery performance to me.

I have the same phone and the battery life is CRAP. When I got the 1st day I let it charge over night and I didnt recharge it until the battery ran all the way down. I am not gonna worry too much about it for now I refuse to buy a new battery. I will just make sure I have a car charger.

Although my phone will have 1 battery level indicater and can stay that way forever 😕

Its not that unusual for a battery to stay on 1 bar for a long time after going through intermittet levels quickly. So find out how much /total/ life you have by letting.

I was told that the battery life on any phone is overrated by the manufacturer to make it appear like a better phone. What someone should do is get on their asses and make them list the correct results as my phone does not last me 390 minutes worth of calling.

The phone is locked to cingular Blue only, and cingular won't unlock it, see you bought it from Blue-and blue's policy is not to unlock any blue phones at all, thats why we push migrations so much, cuz if you gonna buy a phone, then migrate you gotta buy another, thats why migration is offered before selling you a phone with no migration.

To address the batt. life question regarding the V551 if you look on Cingulars website at that model I believe they have it listed with 7hrs. talk time and 9.5 days of standby. Now to achieve this stated batt. life you would have to not use your phone, althought lithium ion batteries are generally finicky batt. when it comes to improper charging and fully discharging. If you let your lithium batt. fully discharge it affects the ions within the batt. and can shorten the overall life of the batt.(Keep it charged, don't be afraid to charge it even if it's down to three or four bars) Before you can use your phone, you must fully charge the battery, some batteries perform best after several full charge/discharge cycles. Don't just buy a batt. a...

no one seems to mention bluetooth so I will. Bluetooth functionality will suck the life outta your battery faster than anything so be sure that your BT isn't set to auto on.

I have a good example for that statement too: "Bluetooth functionality will suck the life outta your battery faster than a hooker sucking a baseball through a garden hose."
