amp'd does use the verizon network
leftyDec 20, 2006, 8:26 PM
don't let those in the verizon world try and tell you anything different. amp'd uses all of the verizon network but the analog portion. which as we all know is a very limited area. and don't let anyone tell you that the digital network for verizon is small, it is not. the new EVDO portion is just starting to roll out, but the 1X is the main digital portion of the system. so don't be fooled by the haters. if you go with amp'd it will basically be the same as being with verizon but without the verizon bs.

I concur and have actual proof from experience! Amp'd works wherever Verizon works.. an Ampd phone can roam wherever a Verizon phone can roam... and without any roaming charges!

Yes you are both absolutely right! Amp'd seems to be the carrier to go with, once people actually start to realize how good Amp'd actually is I don't see any reason for someone to go with Verizon except for maybe phone selection. I have been using Amp'd for a while side by side with my Verizon service I have a razr with both carriers and I have to say my Amp'd razr at least here in Chicago seems to get better coverage even than my Verizon razr. Plus I don't have to suffer with the terrible Verizon UI. Take my advice and if you have the oppurtunity go with Amp'd you won't be dissapointed! Plus here at woodfield mall in schaumburg they actually opened up an Amp'd mobile store which is pretty cool.
