A customer came into the store today looking to activate a PALM 700Wx for a couple of weeks only he wants to use it in JPN/TWN. He knew a lil about GSM and CDMA maybe as much as I knew and he heard he should be able to use it there. He mainly wanted it for email and web but I told him I doubt the data part f the phone will not work in that area. For further knowledge, what system does Japan use? Can our phones roam over there? We usually advise them to "RENT" phones we hear its cheaper than roaming with our phones. Any input is appreciated

You work for Sprint? 😳 Why cant you answer these kinds of questions. I am sure the company provides you with some sort of "manual" that list polices & procedures?

Did you actually tell the customer you were going to ask his question to an online forum?

Is there nobody else that works in your store that could answer this either? Or a support # you could have called?

I would be curious as to what you told him

i told the guy its cheaper to just get a temp phone from the country he visited, i think it is. no one else here knows jack about things like that except for some employees that have been here for years. they dont really train us on PDA's or small things like that but I try to know that stuff for my own personal benefit so this forum helps alot. from my conclusions i thought the EVDO capabilities would not work on another network, but I could be wrong so next time this happens hopefuly i can confidently replay to these questions

With the world phones, voice service is mostly guaranteed for the most part, but the data is something that we can't promise them, kinda on their own risk.
