Hey All (Used to be Nextel18)

I decided to leave this company a while ago because of the customer service, or lack thereof, data speeds, coverage issues, price points, awful phone selection, but most importantly them phasing out the walkie walkie or IDEN. Of course I was a diehard Nextel fan but hey it is what it is.
Just wanted to say hey to everyone.
I went to AT&T for a few years and now I’m at T-Mobile USA.

Sprint did not phase out Direct Connect. It is running over CDMA now.

There will never be a direct connect the same way that was on the Nextel IDEN network. Running over CDMA is worthless.

I suppose we could engage in a week long back and forth thread about the merits, or lack thereof, of Sprint DC. Instead, I will defer to my original reply. where I said Direct Connect was not discontinued. Maybe it should have been, but it was not.

Sprint uses Qchat; they changed the name to direct connect but the service is not like the one on IDEN- not even close.

I remember you Nextel18, you had way better than average knowledge of Nextel & iDEN. We've missed you.

I went to the Sprint corporate store today to see the Kyo Torque. It's a pretty nice phone for a rugged PTT smartphone, but none of the staff was at all familiar with it, so they could not demonstrate the PTT to me. I went during lunch hour, and I was surprised to find there were no other customers except me in the ten minutes I was there, but there were seven employees on duty on the floor. I've never been impressed with the way Sprint's corporate stores treat Nextel customers, at least not until I visited the AT&T and Verizon corporate stores today.

The AT&T store had no central place for PTT phones and no PTT display, although th...

Hey cellphonesaretools how are you? Thank you for your kind words. Sorry for not being on PS but I had to do things that increase my wealth and I am satisfied for doing so. Unfortunately, the merger didn’t work out at all and lost a significant of assets and wrote down a lot which stinks for shareholders but I made a fortune off that purchase. PTT is a niche market with only a few people. Moreover, Qchat’s system is great but not good enough as IDEN. I was a former Nextel customer and was quite upset when they said they would phase it out. Of course I knew that but I would have kept IDEN since it wasn’t that much on the capex side and have it open to public safety officials and create a network. They just wanted the 1.9 GHz and 800 MHz sp...

How is T-Mobile's coverage? What state are you in? I live in Connecticut, and a friend is going to let me use his MyTouch to "test drive" T-Mobile's network.

I think the combination of both HSPA+42 & LTE will be very exciting. Hopefully their signal is strong enough to maintain speeds.

I live on the water in a suburb near Boston. Coverage is very good. I have both the hotspot and the BBz10. I get AMAZING speeds. i receive no more than -80dbm in my area. In some places it goes to -85 but i have never seen it above that...

on the hotspot my average speeds have increased a little bit to 17mb/s down and 6mb/s up.. fantastic!!!!

I'm serviced by 4 towers around this area.. there are a lot of good areas but of course there are a lot of "decent" areas. living on the beach, you expect the worst but i dont see that. other carriers aren't very good at where i live. T-mobile's tower output (power) must be tweaked to be a bit stronger and better.

Get used to that unfortunately, or move to the middle of no where that has LTE for whatever reason. Sprint's pathetic. Funny how T-Mobile is launching their LTE is cities with a population.
