National CineMedia picks Sprint for campaign
National CineMedia (NASDAQ: NCMI) of Denver has entered a multiple-year contract with Sprint Nextel Corp. (NYSE: S) of Overland Park, Kan., for Sprint to sponsor public service announcements encouraging moviegoers to turn off their cell phones during movie showings.
The Sprint PSAs, currently being developed by Goodby, Silverstein & Partners of San Francisco, will be seen at more than 1,100 U.S. movie theaters starting in October.
AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) has sponsored the PSAs since 2007, after its acquisition of Cingular Wireless a year earlier. Cingular had handled the campaign since 2001.
