Treo 800 vs Mogul

Snuggles

Jul 15, 2008, 8:41 PM
I was trying to decide between the two. My main concern was getting a phone with Wifi, and these are the only two at Sprint. They are both Rev A, Win Mobile, 2 MP camera, does it come down to the form factor or are there other differences regards to speed, quality, etc...?

Okay thanks for the comparison chart, it says Treo doesn't have MMS, does that mean you can't send pics by text but you can with the Mogul?

And it doesn't compare the speeds as far as the WIFI or browsing experience. Anybody with hands on experience with the two?

I've had a Mogul since January and after going through four of them with various issues, I was upgraded to a Treo 800WX yesterday. The memory factor alone is reason to get a Treo. Neither of the phones have MMS (Phonescoop for it wrong with the Mogul). They can do basically all of the same sutff, but the Treo should function better with more memory. Mine has ran slow on me already, but I just got it, so I'm trying to make sure it's not something I'm doing. The general issues are the fact that it's Windows based and that alone is going to always have some sort of problem if you're using a lot of features in your phone.

After a full day of using my Treo, I am disappointed. My reception is severely horrible in my house and that was never a problem before, I get numerous errors while I'm using it, and it still has its slow moments. While I love the layout of the phone, I wonder if mine is defective or if I just need to walk completely away from Treo and WM and never look back. Blackberry is sounding SO good to me right now.

This frightens me a great deal to hear about freezes and slow program use. I really want a phone with WIFI, but I'm not sure which to get. Maybe the Instinct but no wifi. Maybe I should get a iPhone, lol

It depends on what you really want the phone for. The Instinct is not a smart phone, it's just a regular phone with interesting features. If you need your email pushed to your device, pda, exchanger server back-up, etc., then you want a smart phone. If not, go with the Instinct. I never use my wi-fi because I always have a signal. I used it on my Mogul as a Router, but that was a different story.

I like the new Treo. The Mogul looks to bulky and I heard that it freezes a lot but that problem could have been resolved already with firmware update or something...idk.

It isnt even a question,

The interface alone is worth the mogul, trying to use windows on the treo's small screen and keyboard is a terrible experience.
The small screen esp.

Also the mogul has a faster processor, and is about 30% faster then the treo's
Yes the treo has more ram but it isnt really a noticable difference if you use the little end program on the today screen of your mogul, which people should do for phone health anyways just like a computer.

And on the treo 800 some root files are diff making some 3rd party apps unusable

right now on my mogul I have

Sprint TV
Radio
Threaded Treo Messaging
Mulimedia Text Messaging
Opera Browser
Skype
The ability to Watch and Download Desktop Youtube and Google Video's plu...

I personally like the larger size of the mogul just because the keyboard is larger and the screen is larger. with the 6.1 update either out or coming soon (not sure which) they should be equally stable; windows of course will never be terribly reliable but still is the most functional.

biggest thing for me personally though is that the mogul has music store (basically like itunes - .99 cent downloads) and the 800w does not!
