Sprint released its new samsung instinct to some of its reps over the weekend and i want to know how everyone compares it to the iphone. the only difference seems to be that it has faster data services and navigation, but the sdk for the iphone makes it versatile.

they are both good phones, but now sprint customers can have an entertainment phone that they always wanted, and yes, the data is faster on the instinct. one feature i really like is that you can fully customize your favs screen, which is a plus if you constantly use certain features. one feature that comes to mind is that you can add on that screen is the "send txt to" icon. add whomever you frequently txt and it goes straight to txting. there are plenty of other features, but i cant think of all of them right now as i just only played with it yesterday. as far as i know i am getting it as well when it comes out and i think it will be a real key to getting ppl more interested in sprint again as it is a great entertainment phone and the data...

sprint speed, expandable memory, removable battery, built in gps, visual voicemail, threaded sms, activaton discount, EVERYTHING PLANS, oh yea and its made by a company that makes more than one phone.

but the i phone does have wifi, and i hear that att is negotiation with the hot spots of the world so their subscribers won't have to pay to use them.

all jokes aside i almost bought an apple i-touch it looks like a really good device, but i got rid of my i pod when i got my touch by htc, no need for i-tunes when i can just sync my sprint phone with my computer and pair to my stereo blue tooth...wow im rambling sorry

Like I stated in a previous post, the instinct is a nice phone BUT it will convince very few Apple customers or potentially new customers to come over to Sprint. The biggest advantage that it has now is the 3G chip BUT that issue will be rectified within the coming weeks. The Apple's touch screen interface is much more advanced and with the 100's or maybe 1000's of people developing applications for iPhone 1 and iPhone 2 just seals the deal. The iPhone is just too versatile. If Samsung really wanted to take a crack at Apple then they would have set a up a developers site and let the 3rd party apps role. This flexibility is what makes the iPhone so good even with its short comings and the same could be said for WinMo and S60 platforms. ...

I personally like the iphone for those reasons, the 3g doesnt really bother me, apple said they didnt put 3g in their phone because the battery consumption is extreme, thus the instinct must come with two batteries. if you really think about it more people will use the phone more than browsing the internet since most of the websites you can visit on most phones must be mobile enabled. I was recently told the an sdk was released for the instinct.i have some friends that work for sprint and all they is brag about how its the iphone killer and i dont agrre being that samsung has no OS backing their phone up, maybe if it had Windows I could see an even match.

I totally agree with you. It is the openness of the OS which makes the iPhone such a great phone. Not to mention that the touch screen is still tops. In one of the commercials you could even see how the pages were loading faster (GPS) it just did not pan down to the street but if you adjusted the settings then it would have done the same thing. I am also pretty sure that Apple will rectify many of the feature issues that many frowned upon. This phone is no iPhone killer but it is a nice phone that should sell well for Sprint but do not expect any lines forming outside of the stores.

i don't know that sprint or samsung really thinks that the instinct will take customers from iphones or att, but maybe it will stop them from leaving sprint in waves, i too will be getting an instinct and then replacing it with the 4th quarter htc device...
