yeah man your $150 deposit will go towards your $200 termination fee. under the coverage map, since you're still in coverage they might be a litte difficult to convince. if you do the roaming only option im sure it'll make your story more belivable. Do you have iDEN or CDMA technology? (Sprint or Nextel?) signal repeaters or antenna boosters wuld help, but can get kinda pricey...

What roam setting is the phone on now? If it is on Sprint-only then switch it to automatic and your problems are solved as it will pull the best signal regardless of network or roaming towering. Also, what phone model do you carry? If it's Motorola anything, especially the RAZOR, this is half your problem. The Motorola product leaves alot to be desired on many levels, worst of which is it's consistency of reading tower signal. If your billing address shows to be within the Sprint network you will not be able to cancel with no termination, regardless of roaming usage, sorry. Another question is whether or not a Nextel phone receiver's signal at your new home. If it does, be patient, the new QCHAT system requires that Sprint mirror all Nextel ...

The "roam thing" isn't setting your phone to that mode, it's actually using it in that mode and using it so that most of your minutes are roaming instead of on Sprint's network. Even with that, it takes a while before they cancel you, if they decide to.

Honestly, just port to a carrier that has better signal where you live/travel/work/play. Your deposit first pays up any current balance, including the early termination fee.

It's really not worth the hassle to worry about it for just a couple hundred bucks. If someone asked me if I'd rather pay a couple hundred dollars or deal with crappy reception for months on end, it's an easy choice. Just port and then sell the old phone on ebay to try to recoup the loss.

Airave is right around the corner that is something you might want to consider.

you will not be canceled on and yes if u were to cancel out service u would get the deposit back, u could also see if nextel has service in ur area with in the area of ur apartment and go over to a hybird or nextel device and if u did that u would not be charged an etf and ur contract would stay the same unless u upgrade and got a rebate when getting the phone,

if you're desperate enough you could always try calling into customer service a bunch of times and have them cancel you that way lol...unless they stopped doin that, then obviously this advice is useless 👀

The amount of time it takes to do that would be better spent on anything else. Seriously, is $200 worth months and months on end of headaches?

If it doesn't work just pay it and move on with life... I never understand why people want to make it into a battle when it's such a petty amount of money, one/two/three days worth of pay isn't worth the hassle of months of headache...
