Who's supplying the numbers?

How can Congress trust AT&T to provide accurate numbers? If AT&T is suppling the numbers won't the numbers will show exactly what AT&T wants them to show? Congress should appoint an independant source to provide the numbers.

Well with the Spectrum at least, i would think the FCC would have that on record somewhere...since they are responsible for that. As far as everything else, i agree, i'd hope a 3rd party would at least audit at&ts claims. Seeing as how they already tap dance around answers lie to the public about having 4G...i wouldnt trust at&t for jack s**t.

Who cares? Congress has no say whatsoever on the merger.

They may not have a say but you better damn well bet they have the influence to make the merger not happen.

It's the same process VZ was held to when buying Alltel. That effin Verizon is the most crooked group. They have been hoarding spectrum that wasn't being used for years from these rural carriers. Now that they will have a competitor in rural markets they will finally start seeing options for consumers instead of a VZ monopoly.

FCC has the record which carrier has the amount of spectrum in ALL areas (you can check it at fcc.gov).
South American carriers are limited to have up to 60MHz cellular spectrum (850/AWS/1900), so US Government should get this rule, and the excess spectrum should return to FCC for another auction.

Should we emulate their death squads and despotic rulers from both the right and the left? Sorry, South America isn't who we should emulate.

Exactly. Everyone knows that if you implement something from another country (i.e. 60Mhz spectrum cap rule) you must implement everything else (even the unrelated stuff) that the country has (i.e. death squads and despotic rulers). I love your logic man! 🙂

Congress doesn't care about trusting AT&T because they have nothing to do with this. The FCC and congress aren't exactly the same thing, or even close for that matter. But that's just a minor detail, I guess I know what you're trying to say. The FCC isn't completely stupid, I'm sure they aren't going to let AT&T give them totally unverifiable numbers.

The whole f'in thing is a sham anyway.
This is all a show to make them all come out smelling like roses.
AT&T greased all the right pockets and everyone is putting on a good show to make it all look more legit.
I hope AT&T has record churn once the merger completes.
