I talked to my District Mgr. two days ago and she said the next phone we are scheduled to get is a "unique" swivel phone from Kyocera with a megapixel camera!!!!!!!!! Maybe Verizon has just flown under the radar on this one!!!!

I work for a Verizon master agent and haven't heard a thing. If this is their phone it's more like they're in stealth mode rather than 'under the radar'

you work for verizon, so you might have some idea...if verizon is trying to phase out analog, and it seems liek theyre releasing more digital only phones, would they still release a phone with analog support?

This definitely a VZW phone. Their was a Kyocera rep in our store last week and he was telling us all about the phone. He had a live version of it and it rocks. The reason it is tri-mode is that it will still be a few years until all of the analog is out of the VZW network. Also you have to think about roaming agreements that VZW has with smaller companies that may still have analog.

Oh yeah thats right, Alltel being to small of a carrier to land this phone I doubt any carrier smaller than Alltel will land this phone, it's pretty obvious it's going to Vzw

First time using the forum. My contract is up with AT&T at the end of March, and was thinking of getting the LG VX6000, but am intrigued by the Kyocera Koi. I am a little concerned about the 6000 not being a tri-mode phone, so I like that aspect of the Koi, as well as the higher resolution camera and speakerphone (should be full duplex though...not half-duplex). Did your Kyocera rep tell you when to expect the phone at your Verizon store? I am in the Detroit metro area, so would the release date be nationwide for all Verizon stores? I am willing to wait a bit, if it's due out soon. Thanks!

I forgot to ask you if you have any idea about pricing on the Koi?

nobody has any idea about pricing yet, because we dont know which carrier is getting it. its all pure speculation. plus, at the rate verizon releases phones (if they are getting this), expect to see it in a few years.

I totally agree with you about how long Verizon's testing system appears to be. Their explanation is so that they can make sure there's no "bugs" in the phone. That must be why none of the phones have "bugs" when they're released (ha, ha!). In any event, I hear the Koi is supposed to be released in next 1-3 months, but I'll believe it when I see it. Nobody at my local Verizon stores ever has any idea about release dates of future phones...usually they haven't even heard of the phones that aren't yet released! I still think it's going to be Verizon that gets this phone, as they are the main company that uses BREW. Most companies use JAVA.

I spoke to my local rep at Verizon today, who has heard of the Koi, but told me that even if Kyocera has the phone available to Verizon within 1-3 months, it will likely take them 4-6 months to test the phone before releasing it to the public. That means, October is the earliest we could expect to see this phone at Verizon for public "consumption."

I'm hoping if Verizon gets this model that it's not as brittle as the Slider.
