What's the point?

What's the point? If their acquisition by AT&T goes through, AT&T will just shut it down next year. What a waste. I really do feel for all the T-Mobile customers who will likely get dumped onto AT&T's s-l-o-w 3G network.

Well, they still need to retain customers and gain new ones. The T-Mobile ads bashing at&t are still airing too. There is always a slight chance that the deal might not be approved. I wouldn't count on that but they are still competitors until everything is completed.

That's right. DT is only covering their arses. Can't blame em.

Remember AT&T has 700MHz spectrum as well. Maybe not as enough as Verizon but enough to start some early deployments of LTE in cities New York to help ease the transition for some T-Mobile customers.

Trying to figure out which carrier to switch to. Heard Sprint's network was no good but with good rates and I think that Tmo has nice phones and rates.

Right now if you were concerned with the fastest network. That's Verizon's LTE hands down. The speed tests say it all.

Sprint's plans are good and coverage is good. You get roaming on Verizon. 3G is good but their WiMAX coverage sucks. It operates on this crappy 2500Mhz frequency and many have complained that the signal has problems penetrating inside buildings. It's like once you go inside the office, no bars, as soon as you walk out, full strength!

Some people have luck and get close to 10mbps down but honestly I've heard not...

Really??? The same thing happens with ATT for me as with Verizon. Inside my building I cant get good reception, until I walk outside!!! OMG

You hit on some key points.. Coverage and roaming. With ATT I have had both. I want both as well....

"Some people have luck and get close to 10mbps down but honestly I've heard nothing but complaints. Poor signal, high latency, Clear throttling certain users, etc. Not to mention since their fiances aren't in good shape and Sprint keeps hinting on moving to LTE, don't expect coverage to improve anytime soon."

Are you referring to Verizon in the above referenced quote?

Hmmm And If I lose all that with Verizon just to gain the speed... its not a win situation for me.. What do you think ab...

Wow you get problems with AT&T and Verizon as well? Damn you must be out there in the sticks. Where are you located?

Yeah I was talking about Sprint's WiMAX when I mentioned don't expect for coverage to improve anytime soon.

My suggestion is to try each of the carriers and see which is best. Since you mentioned ATT and Verizon both give you reception problems, I'd say try Sprint. Who knows, maybe it might just work for you. You're just a casual user right? 4G not all that important to you?

Regarding T-Mo I couldn't be happier. Been with them for years. Best customer service hands down. I don't recommend them to just anyone honestly. If you live and travel to major metro areas and even their surrounding suburbs, T-Mo should be fine. ...

Never said I had Verizon. I have ATT. But I have some of the same problems as he/she stated that happens with Verizon.

I am a casual picture taker.
I live in the Dallas Metro area and travel when I can to other states and sometimes internationally. I want to have the use of my phone whenever I need it. I know Metro PCS does not do this. I have to have peace of mind. 3g is ok but not most important. Most imp. is being able to use the phone for its intended purpose whenever I need to.

They are counting on cashing the 3 billion check from att when the deal doesn't get approved and laughing all the way to the bank. But you're right, att will only screw it up.

That would be nice from one perspective.
AT&T Mobility fails with the acquisition, it will help T-Mobile subscribers keep from changing their SIM cards and migrating to already horrid AT&T plans.
Deutsche Telekom still stands to make good $$$$ if they invest correctly.

well if the at&t merger goes thru they will also get t mobiles technology so the 4g networks would stay the same

exactly. if approved, at&t would work with chipmakers to develop dual chip 700/1700 devices so they could access BOTH HSPA+ networks.

the point is....this was all agreed upon back when both at&t and t-mo usa were planning their network rollouts and t-mo accepted at&t's offer.
