To allow us to drive the car from our phones. That would be cooool.

On a related note, will this allow us to shut off the car completely in case it gets stolen?

Unlikely. What if your phone was stolen or somebody was messing with it and shut off your car while you were on the highway doing 60mph?

Good tech though. I think Ford is already profiting quite well off their brilliant embrace of new tech in their cars and trucks.

I have a factory remote start on a GM vehicle and they don't allow you to drive off without putting the key in the ignition. In fact it turns off after 15 minutes if you don't put your key in.
Great for warming up/cooling down the interior before you get in 😁

Great for showing off mostly. Remote start has been available for quite sometime. Imagine people with their iPhones (and Android to some extent) bragging about this.
