According to a recent Bloomberg report stating this and Apple coming forth and basically saying At&t's network....well....sucks! I think this spike in complaints are from people that just recently signed up with At&t from other carriers to get the iphone 4. Previous customers must have been accustomed to the state of At&t's network...which apparently is over exaggerated. I always hated At&t's stupid dancing bars that fluctuated so much you could barely count the damn bars. All this At&t backlash is quite comforting given all of the crap they gave me over the years....aah 😁

Interesting since AT&T has an exclusive until 2012. Not even Apple can get around that.

Like I have posted elsewhere, Verizon does not have the bandwidth to handle that much iphone traffic. How can 30 mhz be better equipped than 70mhz? Can no one else see that the iphone totally maxes out the network? It will max out Verizon's that much quicker with less bandwidth. There is only 30-45mhz of LTE bandwidth available so if and when LTE is deployed it will be a matter of time before the network is maxed out there too.

Personally I hope they don't get it; like you say it would be nothing but trouble for Vz (sorry SCOTT). Besides Vz is doing justfinethankyou with their commitment to Android which has already lapped crApple's OS. Throw in a nice selection of BB's (with their new 6 OS) and add the new Windows
phones and who needs the IPHONE.

Jeff, no one wants to hear a reasonable, rational argument. ;)

I think ATT's problem isn't bandwith it's a question of backhaul, you can have all the bandwith in the world but without the connections at the tower to support it it's useless as is the case with ATT's entire networkl. Probably better for them to concentrate on their network and customers and put more money into it rather than the greedy shareholders then they wont have to whine and complain about other carriers. ATT is the new joke of wireless carriers.

And that's why they've been adding backhaul like crazy. Good post.

Please, oh, Please put the iPhone on Verizon. That way I can laugh at all the retards that think their network can support such a powerful phone. Couple points to support this is that it has taken AT&T years to keep the network stable with all of the "Smartphones"(not just iPhones) on their network. AT&T has more smartphones on their network (thanks to the iPhone of course) then any other carrier. I have been in the cellular industry for 7years some as a tech, some as a salesman, some as a manager and I can tell you that because Verizon can barely handle the Andriod phone, they will not even be able to come close to having any sort of network with an iPhone. Not only that, but the reception with the iPhone has always been an issue with ...

I have no billing issues whatsoever or ever had. It was all about the dodging they did when I reported network issues I had it was always something that was wrong with my phone or some anomaly that apparently was just happening to me. Ironically I'm still paying for five lines on a family plan from At&t that are strictly voice use. I left years ago and never regretted it.

AT&T has so many problems because voice and data can be used at the same time on 3G, on Verizon you are using data or voice, not both unless you are on WiFi. Verizon also used 4 times the amount of data that AT&T used and had 0 problems. Verizon CEO even said their network is ready and can handle the extra traffic the iPhone brings. AT&T just never took care of its network while Verizon has spent 5.5 billion each year on its own network.

dude, bandwith. i dont care what a ceo says. talk to an engineer. its a friggin fact that should be common knowledge that verizon actually trails ATT in bandwith in most places. as far as i know the only company with more bandwith than ATT is sprint, and lets be honest, with the bleeding of customers they have had the last few years, im thinking they would be a better fit, as far as network goes.

you mean something like this which shows when it comes to speeds there all relatively the same

http://www.pcworld.com/zoom?id=167391&page=1&zoomIdx=1 »

but that was a year ago

http://www.pcworld.com/zoom?id=189592&page=1&zoomIdx=2 »

that's the new one, i give at&t credit while Verizon is working on there 4g At&t is working to get there 3G better, but then again i don't know because the test say the reliability in NY is 95% for AT&T and I'm from NY and i know people with AT&T and i find that a little hard to believe. If it is true then good for them.

Look at the licenses. Verizon was forced to shed some to keep at a max of 45mhz as part of the merger while AT&T was allowed up to 90mhz for 3g integration. In many rural markets Verizon only has 15 mhz. But their 700mhz properties will add more.

Dude. It's Google. It takes seconds. For you to come here and demand 'proof' is ignorant.

We already know AT&T has more bandwidth than Verizon.

Go to the FCC website and look up licenses for cellular and for PCS the cellular licenses are 30mhz wide, there are 2 bands A and B.

PCS licenses vary in width from 10-30 mhz. a carrier's bandwidth comes from the amount of and type of licenses they own in a market. There is also the AWS licenses in the 1700 mhz band.

There are also 700mhz licenses for wireless data. I know a lot less about them so I am not sure how much bandwidth they carry. I only know that the entire industry minus Sprint has a little over 100 mhz. Sprint owns anywhere between 150 and 300 mhz of bandwidth in the 2.5-2.8 ghz band.

As unfair as it seems Cingular was allowed 70-90 mhz in each market because of the bandwidth needs to migrate from GSM to 3G while Veri...

Verizons network map that says they have the whole nation covered in 3g is true in only one way, 1rxtt is considered a type of 3g technology. This was made clear when att sued verizon for the island of misfits commercial back in december, even the judge said that although verizon's commercials were sneaky they were accurate, this was in reference to specifically that...both of those carriers are rip off's jokes and liars. Verizons great map and great portions of it are actually 1rxtt and att is just a joke period...

I love Sprint but their network is taking a beating as of late. I think the Evo may have been the straw that broke the camel's back...My voice is perfect but the 3G data is dogged by traffic nowadays. I cannot use google maps on my broadband card anymore because of the latency. I hope they improve things on the 3G side soon..
