is give free Bumper Cases to anyone that purchases an iPhone 4. Otherwise it should be advertised as $229.99 since it appears a case is required it you want to make calls. I also think it is pretty clear now why the Bumper is the first first-party case they've made for any iPhone. Apple knew there was a problem and the case made for a quick fix at the expense of the end user. So in the end Apple makes even more money off a design flaw.

All this talk about the antenna and it's bad receptions is just plain dumb - the design engineers should be taken outside and shot. When I first read about the new phone and learned where the antenna was located, I knew there were going to be problems. I've been in the communications business going on 29 years. One of the first thing we were learn in communications is NEVER touch the antenna. I will degrade the reception and the send side of the phone. Its kinda funny when I think about, but for those who don't believe - we used to have them grab hold of the antenna and transmit. Within a second or two, the person would have let go of the antenna because it produces radio waves that are HOT. Now I'm talking about a 100 watt radio, whic...

I wondered the same thing about the antennas being connected to the aluminum body when the phone was announced but I'm not an engineer so figured I was wrong. I'm waiting to see if they fix the issue in future builds as I do not see how any software updates could fix this issue as other sites have stated.

To SellPhones82 - You are correct, this will not be fixed via software. I read somewhere else that mentioned that was the reason for buying some covers. It's unfortunate (SOME) people are not savy enough about what they are buying when it comes to cell phones. I never blame any phone for having problems - I will blame the manufactures and their engineers.

Anyone that bought one would've had no idea that this was going to be a problem so you can't fault anyone that purchased on. I just do not agree with how Apple has handled the situation so far. In the Tech industry nothing is perfect and there will always be problems/bugs/design flaws. The key is how do you correct the problem and telling people that they are holding the phone wrong or buy a case to fix the issue is not an option IMO. I'm not a iPhone fan but like the look of the iPhone 4 but once you put a case on it, it looks like every other iPhone with exception to the front facing camera and retina display.

i agree with you to a point...apple does have a tendancy to be VERY arrogant about it's products and has a really hard time admitting they have a problem. i persoanlly think it doesnt make sense for a recall but i do think that those devices should be replaced by apple and until they are..cases should be GIVEN to those who purchased the devices as a temp fix.

not surprisingly on launch day their stock's were in the negative.
