Android Haters Read Here...

🙂 So what kind of clever bs do you think you can come out about this phone? As far as I can see this phone all ready promises what AT&T users have been waiting for in a Android OS. The iphone 4 is looking out dates all ready and is not even out yet!!!!

You know, I don't think anyone HATES Android. I think it's the fact that Android users seem so hostile against Apple that it gets annoying and people find the need to "Fight back." I don't think any iPhone users was really angry that Google created their own OS...but the Android users can be some of the rudest phone users ever on these comment boards.

Case in point...Daniel Dc5. You're dissing a phone that hasn't come out yet as well...It's a phone. People get angry over religion and politics...things that actually have baring in life...and you guys fight over phone OS...

And it will always be there. I was just recalling the early days of the Browser Wars, when people took their stand against Micro$oft Internet Exploiter or Netscrape... and you could still choose Compuserve as a provider and connected with a 9600 baud modem, Lycos was a prominent search engine, and the IBM PS/1 my Dad brought home from work was running a bootlegged copy of Windows 3.1.

I feel old. 😉

Like the guy said; they're phones. If you like yours, then that's great. No need to bash anyone else. If you don't like a company don't bash someone else for their choice. It's what they like.

Hmmm seems to me you have a bit of the "pot calling the kettle black" syndrome. I find Apple users to be much more hostile and immature. I've seen "f**k you n00b" and "pwned" all over forums left and right. They're both just as bad. One is not better than the other. You're being biased.

Of course we will never know which side struck first. You're right, there are stones thrown on both sides. But for my personal experiences on these sites (PhoneScoop, PhoneArena, Digg...) if there is iPhone news, all I hear is how Android is better and iPhone users are sheep. When there is Android news, I never really see iPhone users coming in a mass quantity to defend iOS. But in a lot of ways, I feel like Android users are in the minority and because of that, they feel picked on in someway. But it all seems childish because in the end, it's just a Smartphone OS and nothing more. Folks should be happy there is active competition instead of dissing one Smartphone over the other.

The problem is, the iphone brings out the child in its supporters. Taking a day off of work to buy a phone is crazy enough, then you add in the factor that they brag about their device. I don't like it when my friends boast about their BMWs or Mercedes. I certainly don't like it over a damn phone. My vehicle gets me from point A to point B with no problems and my device allows me to make phone calls. I don't like Android because it is better than the iphone, I like it because it allows for more choices to get me to the same point of potential for my everyday needs. And without being told what I can have or not have on a product I paid top dollar for. It negates my interest in following Status Quo just to fulfil Self-gratification. Most emplo...

Slammer,
True, did you see that picture of this "tool" camping out infront of an AppleStore in a tent, geeze its not for like 5 days and its only a friggin phone!

Yes I ordered one, I waited on no lines, and would be more then happy to wait for later in the week to pick it up and swap out my older phone for the newer one, and put my wife on my older 3gs. (and before you say I'm a cheap hump, I offered to get her an iP4 several times and she said no.)

But to be honest, there is no shortage, no matter what you like of rather rude fanboi's. I do find the iPhone one's smug, and the android one's caustic. And screw them both. Just enjoy what you have.

Congratulations on your new phone! Most women don't slobber over technology such as phones, but she respects the 3Gs. Not a bad choice. She may change her mind once she witnesses the Video Conferencing.

I recently bought the HTC Evo for this reason and love it. Although, I must admit, I was extremely nervous and leary of the big screen. I thought that it was too big. After two weeks of becoming unionized with it, I don't think I could ever go back to a smaller screen. It is absolutely an awesome experience! It is a powerhouse to say the least.

I just can't see waiting in line for something such as a phone. It is not like there won't be any more. Is Apple closing their doors tomorrow? It is ridiculous. Look at the problems it causes. An...

Exactly go into an AT&T or Sprint store, if they're out of the iPhone or Evo, you get put on fullfillment, and probably get it delivered to your home the next week. No big friggin deal.

BTW, was at the local corp Sprint store this past Saturday and they had them in stock.

I am going to predict 2 million iPhone 4's sold in July in the U.S alone and on AT&T alone.

Android is a cool OS, I'll say maybe 200,000 of the galaxy s will be sold on AT&T this YEAR. maybe that many.

I personally love the iPhone.

But this article isn't even about the iPhone is it?

The thing killing android on att WILL be att.

Seriously, charging 129 for an entry level model, locking down the OS (again). Then just a few days later announcing a high end phone, pretty much killing the sales of the aria.

Then with this phone, it seems like they removed the front facing camera (if you read att's press release it doesn't mention it, and several android sites are posting it was removed) on TOP of the locked down apps. And no, side loading apps isn't just for nerds. It's a VITAL part of the app development process.

Vlingo, Swype, Adobe Flash, and dozens of other companies released their betas as out of market downloads to test the software before release. this also SERIOUSLY limits the ability of companies to dev...

I have sold MANY Backflips and I havent heard ONE person mention the fact you cant side load apps. I sell three times more Backflips than I phones. Im not defending the fact that ATT has it locked down, I think its BS, but regardless, I am still selling quite a few of them. Most consumers do not research phones.

And also, I do think that the Aria will sell well despite the Galaxy being announced. Technically, the Galaxy is a better phone and I would pick it over the Aria any day. BUT I bet the Galaxy goes for 200 after rebate and each phone will fill its own niche. Techies and people wanting a high end Android phone will go with the Galaxy. People wanting an entry level Android like possibly a soccer mom or teenager would go with the Ari...

You can load a 20 megapixel camera, a 4ghz processor, and a 600dpi screen on the thing, it doesn't change the fact that Android is still garbage. It doesn't change the fact that 80% of its features are half-assed, it doesn't change the fact that 99% of the applications on the Android Marketplace are total crap, and it doesn't change the fact that the user interface is a trainwreck. It also doesn't change the fact that for all intents and purposes... copy/paste isn't even useful.

It can have 4 friggin cameras for video chatting and it wouldn't change the fact that there isn't a single reliable working Video Chat app on Android. (Giving Apple the benefit of the doubt here as I'm willing to bet FaceTime actually works right on day on...

If you like your iphone or what ever phone you have that's great. If you don't like android OS that's great too, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. But you don't have be a jerk about it. I mean this whole my phone is better than your phone 12 years olds attitude is not necessary. There is room for all Iphones and Android devices in this world. All these newer phones that these companies keep making, makes it great for us the consumer because they fight for our business and keep making killer phones in the process. While giving us more choices to choose from. Now I'm not trying to st...

See I hate rabid fanboyism. I'm not a fanboy and I'm not a cheerleader. I don't criticize a platform if it doesn't deserve it. I don't cheerlead carriers either, though I think a lot of people are misinformed (e.g. where this crap that Verizon or Sprint's network is universally better than AT&T's started I don't know.)

Most anti-iPhone users on this site have never touched an iPhone. I'm willing to bet most of them couldn't even pass an AT&T credit check. A lot of anti-Android people haven't spent a significant time with the OS.

Because of it's relationship to the iPhone. I'm hating Android for the same reasons I hate Windows Mobile. I hate this outmoded idea a lot of these platform companies have that high-spec hardware can compensate for lackluster software. This should've died the same day Windows Mobile did.

I predicted 2 years ago this is what was going to become of Android. I was right. Android fans may hate the iPhone because they fear some totalitarian future or god knows whatever bullcrap Google spews forth, but I hate Android for a far more objective reason: It's still crap.

I couldn't agree more.

It's simply the software ecosystem and fluid flow of the UI that
makes the iPhone a better handset. Google has none of this. When/if they do, they will completely squash apple...but that's yet to be seen. All android has done is replaced all the feature phone trash on the market.

Google made a couple of mistakes that has really put them several years behind:

- excessive delay of the project

- launching an app store, that after a year, could finally accept commercial payments (which is why the android store is a very poor commercial market that no legitimate developer would invest money in developing for). It is also compound with a culture that simply wants it all for free and does not want to pay fo...
