If you are communicating Iphone 4 to Iphone 4 via wi-fi, do you incur any charges for minutes used? If you are not charged for this, how is AT&T making money? Or is it a way to alleviate stress on the network.

Appreciate any responses.

AT&T to other AT&T iPhone 4 will not use minutes or incur charges as they are on the same network. same network calls = no charges or minutes used.

That has nothing to do with the question, which is wi-fi.

iPhone4 ONLY allows the phone to phone video conferencing via WI-FI ... NOT the AT&T system so M2M has NOTHING to do with it! The signal is broadcast via the internet like skype, qik, etc and wont allow use of 3G connection for broadcasting ... I believe the limitation on the iphone is more to do with the inconsistancy of the AT&T network and NOT the iphone capibilities. But who knows.

No. If you're using your own Wi-Fi connection, then you're not using AT&T's network and they're not charging you.

AT&T does have their own Wi-Fi network, which they do charge for. You can find this at all US Starbucks locations.

But using a non-AT&T Wi-Fi network, such as your own home Wi-Fi router, completely bypasses AT&T.

This is true for any phone with Wi-Fi, not just the iPhone.
