$200 for a phone that just has a upgraded trackpad and wi-fi isn't really worth it at all...specially when this phone was known about 1yr ago.

That's exactly what I was thinking...and then I looked up and realized that we (AT&T) have the 9700 on sale for $199.99 after a $100 mail in...fail.

Well you gotta realize that the 9700 was a better upgrade from the bold 9000. But the 9650 info was leaked almost 1yr ago and its the same exact thing as the 9630 and for $200 makes no sense.

I guess I'll be picking a HTC Incredible or a Evo 4G.

Yea for an extra $100 I'm betting the EVO will be priced @ and spec. wise I dont see why you'd go w/ the BB - unless your biased 😛

The price really isn't that bad. It adds Wi-Fi, trackpad and doubles the memory to 512. The phone also adds Open GL Support and is most likely upgradeable to OS 6.0 as well as the well known Webkit browser that is currently used on the iPhone and Android.

I'm intrigued by this phone. I have a Tour on Verizon and am anxiously waiting for this phone on Sprint.

I appreciate those points and the enhancements are needed. Although I have to side with the others as far as price goes. We sell the bold 9700 here for 129.99 with a new contract. That's without any rebates. So for the tour to be sold for 300 dollars before the mail in rebate, that's insanely high.

Yeah, for a mobile platform that just can't compete with the Androids and WebOSes of the world, *and* the fact the 9630 is $100 less I think RIM & Sprint are smoking the good stuff on that price point.

The Curve lineup and their insanely cheap pricepoints and BOGO offers is what is keeping RIM in the game. That and only until recently (Backflip...?? bleh) the only legitimate non-iPhone smartphone option on AT&T is Blackberry...

No, business users are what is keeping BB in the game. There is a very large segment of our society that don't use their phones for entertainment, but for work. These are the people BlackBerry has always designed for, and they do a great job of bringing the needed product to them.
