It is rumored to have an 8 megapixel camera W/flash, a front facing camera, running a version of Apples A4 1GHZ processor a battery that is 16% larger and a LOT higher definition screen.

I. Want. One. Now.

all have four tires, headlights and windshields....

Can't really compare any of them to a Rolls Royce though.

actually you can. Because those devices are marketed and targeted at entirely different audiences, they are meant for wholly different uses. If I wanted a car to get me from point a to point b on the cheap, the LAST car I would get is a rolls royce.

Here's the kicker:

There is no one perfect phone for everyone. THAT is why I hate apple fanboys. Because it doesn't matter what the device is, who it is marketed to, or what niche it is meant to fill, they will ALWAYS compare it to the iphone and since that is their OS of choice, they will ALWAYS find some reason (no matter how petty... lol itunes syncing) for why it is superior, even if the device isn't even in the same MARKET as the iphone (like people comparing the EnV3 to the iphon...

"Because it doesn't matter what the device is, who it is marketed to, or what niche it is meant to fill, they [Apple fanboys] will ALWAYS compare it to the iphone"

Sprint marketed the Instinct as an iPhone killer in it's "The Instinct is the iPhone killer" commercials.

The tech blogs constantly compared the Android OS to the iPhone OS calling it an iPhone killer.

Verizon advertised the 'Droid' (Android OS) as the iPhone killer in it's "Droid does" commercials.

I can honestly say that Palm seems to be the only company to avoid advertising thier phone in any way as an iPhone killer. Effectivly proving that the ONLY way to get your phone to sell is to market it directly against the iPhone and attack attack attack.

Have you eve...

I'm not anti apple trolling, and you're not defending apple. Yes, this heading is about apple, but what about when a news article is released about android and Blue or some apple troll has to post some snide remark about android.. is that defending apple?

And tech bloggers are just as susceptible to marketing as anyone, and against, their comparisons mean nothing. The fact that they are calling it the iphone killer means that they think it is, largely because their audience will want to compare it, no matter how often someone might try pointing out that not

And I can't speak for the instinct, but the Droid was NOT marketed as a replacement for the Iphone, it was marketed as a COUNTER to the iphone, kinda like Chocolate V Vanilla ...

If a Cavalier ran at 4G and could put out a WiFi signal that would make several other Rolls Royce run faster than they could on AT&T's network I'd say it compares.

Interesting thing though. I can still get from point A to point B with a non Rolls Royce vehicle.

Front facing camera...
In-house designed integrated 1ghz processor...
80gigs of storage...
software designed specifically for the hardware, and vice-versa...

If that's following the pack, count me in.

-Front facing camera-- HTC Evo, Sangus Vphone, etc

-in house designed processor...so?

-80 gigs is nice, but to borrow from Blue, it's just a "tech spec" not an innovation

-Each version of android (especially sense devices) are designed specifically for the phone they are on. This is why you can't easily port sense from one device to another from another company.

Here's the thing, I'd rather have an iPhone 3Gs than a Nexus 1, and a whole lot of people share my sentiment.

The new iPhone will share some cool specs with those phones, but will take advantage of those specs in ways they never will.

The iPhone is the standard these phones STILL measure themselves against.

Here's the thing.. I'd rather have a n1 than an Iphone, and an increasing number of people share my sentiment. The irony is that mob mentality has nothing to do with how well a device performs. The RAZR outsold anything that came before it, and it was one of the worst phones ever made.

Those phones don't measure themselves against it, reviewers measure them against the iphone, no matter what the companies try to say. Again, this is marketing more than quality. Just like ever tissue is called a kleenex, and every cotton swab is a qtip. If a device is a smartphone, people immeadiately ask "so it's like the iphone." not because of the actual device, but for most consumers, "like an iphone" is any smartphone, or heck, any advanced media...

And a lot of people share MY sentiment. It's why Android is GAINING market share - and Apple actually LOST market share (.1%... but it starts somewhere)

The new iPhone, if as is via the leak, has normal improvements... plus a camera and maybe a noise cancellation mic.

Not exactly innovation. I know there are other phones with those features.

It's a nice phone still, but I'd rather support a phone system that's more about being open.

Google > Apple.

but to say it > all?

Hardly.

The competition HAS caught up, and in many ways surpassed Apple.

matches the user friendly-ness of the iphone its way to easy to do anything and everything is at your fingertips..i would rather browse the web on my iphone than on my computer here at work. Its ease of use is why its such a winner.

I wasn't too wild about the 3G/3GS design. It wasn't bad, but this new prototype looks stunning and clean. I hope the final production product is similar.
