Good Bye Palm

You had your chance. You were too little, too late. Nobody cares about webOS. The future of mobile devices belongs to Google and Apple. Even if HTC were to buy out Palm, they're way too busy with Android and Win7 to give it the time of time. Either way webOS is doomed. It was noble effort and now it's time to move on.

Pretty sure if HTC (assuming they're not as dumb as I've accused them of being) had a choice of selling phones with nothing but in-house WebOS and nothing but Android they'd dump Android in a heartbeat.

Just from the logistics of it, HTC likes to spew out hardware like diarrhea. WebOS with its scaling canvas for app development (thank, Apple) is a perfect fit.

Anything from HTC today is better than anything from Palm. Unless you put WebOS on HTC Incredible or Nexus One hardware.

Or WebOS on Droid hardware.

I just think it's kinda sad, Palm was a pioneer, even back when these things that we use were known moreso as organizers, and eventually smartphones. But as the old saying goes, adapt and innovate or die.

The Motorola Droid's hardware is garbage. My Pre (although I've sort of babied it with its suede case) has been solid thus far.

Because you've babied it though.

It's Tiny (and so is the pixi), it has a VERY plastic feel to it. The OS itself is really nice, if a little sluggish (only one I've really handled is a palm pre plus), Yes, the advertising was completely botched, and launching with sprint first might not've been the best idea. But the hardware was really holding people back. There is a market for "small" devices, but if they made something with even an eris sized screen, it would've sold more.

Well it is sad to say they are gone, but they have not been able to keep up even tho they were here at the beginning of the so called smart phones. The future is Android that is for sure, Apple will be there but Android is taking over.

I was just thinking this the other day... Web OS is an amazing operating system it is the Hardware that did not make it as appealing. I was just thinking that if for some crazy there would be a phone that had something similar to HTC hardware and the Web OS, that it would be an amazing phone! Guess I might just see that! 🙂

Best part of this thread. WebOS is amazing. Easy to use, easy to customize, horrible hardware!
