Best Shack?

The problem here is the Block Buster Model. You go to a Block Buster and the kid behind the counter knows nothing about movies... or even the product in the store. The Radio Shack employees (when they choose to help you) are the same. Best Buy, on the other hand, has great employee training and someone is always eager to assist you. So when Radio Shack becomes Best Shack or whatever, it will be interesting to see if they employees raise their game.

whoa whoa whoa! some 4,000 stores and we are all idiots? whatch your assumptions sir. there are many idoits, sharks, nerds, and sleezy salesmen. i will give you that. but there are also PEOPLE that care. i try to. i know im not the perfect employee, but i try. and so does everybdy i work with. I hate talking to people who cant speak english, but thats about it. and even then i try pretty hard to understand them. i cant speak for everybody in radioshack and neither should you. but in my store, we care about people and try our hardest to help them in anyway we can. even if that means recommending best buy for a product we dont carry.

Same thing goes for products purchased at corporate cell phone dealers. The difference is that we actually take the time to assist people as much as we can WITHIN OUR MEANS. Corporate dealers will sell you the product and don't want to deal with any questions once they get their commission. I agree with the person who said in another thread that most of us JUST CARE MORE and want to do our job c...

sounds like you are reading from that hand book you got on the first day. you guys only 'dominate' the cell phone industry BECAUSE of your PRICING. if my stores could give everything away for free, im sure we would sell way more as well. do yourself a favor and learn how to sell properly. use radioshack as a stepping stone to getting a real job in wireless if thats what you like selling. there are huge opportunities out there that radioshack can come close to offering.

Okay sir, I appreciate your attempt at trying to make an incredibally broad assumption of me. I have worked in retail for about 5 years now.. And while not EVERYONE may feel this way, I feel really strong about not forcing the customer to get something they do not want just to get a phone out the door. Whether Radio Shack likes that or not, it really helps the customers feel more at ease while making a decision with their hard earned cash, and makes them feel as if I am more trust worthy and less pressured. That also helps increase my chances of having them or their family members come back to me for future sales. This not only benefits the corporation, but myself, and makes me feel good when I realize I set them up with something they reall...
