Honestly, I think Sprint is going in the right direction with this, buying a phone off an in store dummy is really not fair to the consumer, not fair to the retailer when its brought back because its not what the consumer wants.

Right now, and this is true for all the carriers, the only stores that have live phones are corporate. So this would be great for online and resellers. While I think its better then nothing, it doesn't replace using a live phone. Well I shall check it out.

Yeah, This isn't going to work.

These customers are the dumbest customers. They have all type of tools in front of them that they don't use. I honestly hope it works or at least cut back on the confused customer.

75% of those who buy mobiles, either don't care or just simply want features. They don't visit sites like this, nor care to. Ignorant would be a better word. They for the most part after pushing the call button to make a call/txt, want a fashion statement, or to play games. And you know, thats OK.

Then again, what I do for a job is no way, connected to the mobile industry.

One of the obstacles to having live phones on display is the enormous inventory investment by someone, either the retailer or the carrier. If the salesperson is worth anything they can bring out he real product to power up to use any non-network related feature of the phone. This is fine for most people who merely want to feel the heft of a real device and hear the sounds.
The other issue is for retailers with a lot of traffic. Even with the best security theives are able to steal the live phones. Since they often steal the dummies why would it be different with a live phone?
Another obstacle is the hassle in getting that many lines activated. Who should get those phone numbers, customers or retailers? It also takes a long time to get a C...

And you wrote all of that because? You stated the obvious and didn't give any new information that wasn't common knowledge...

Overall this is a good move for Sprint because it helps in two ways.

1. People who buy online won't have to "try" the phones in store. They can buy directly from the website and the impulse of being able to "use" the phone will help with sales. This reduces the amount of people who walk and decide to go with another carrier because less time is spent between testing the phone and buying the phone.

2. You can answer questions yourself without asking a rep. This is huge because customers often complain of false information and this gives them an avenue to get the SAME information that other customers are gettin...
