this is one of the best ideas ive seen in the wireless industry. I guess the only drawback is that your not renting to own. I wouldnt be surprised if we see the carriers of these handsets starting a program very similar to this. And to have thier business posted on rcr wireless news and phone scoop should attract a ton of business for the new company. I hope the best of luck to them. Cause i see alot of people that come in and cant afford to buy a new phone. This will also be great for the consumers who dont have insurance and have no warranty. they can rent a phone until thier upgrade comes due.

and if anyone can get some contact info for the group, that would be great. I would love to get some small flyers printed out to pass around to some of our white glove customers who need new handsets.

Two things are needed:

1)Obviously the passion for phones. I have that.

2) The extra money to shell out on top of my current plan. I don't have that.

Also you made note of customers with no insurance.

If they don't have the extra 6 dollars for it, where are they going to get an extra 20 or more for a rental?

However, this is a great idea for the Elite that have extra cash. But I don't see it for the masses.

you said most of my points...but here's one more. If you can afford an additional $50 per month you can prolly afford to just go buy new phones or snag one off craigslist.

This maybe for the "elite", but if I make a million dollars a year, the last thing that is prolly on mind is switching blackberries every other month. Its a hassle to switch phones anyway.

I like the concept, but charging $40 bucks a month to me won't attract too many people IMO.

I couldnt find a lot on the company but I was able to find there website.

http://www.rentobile.com/ »

I hope this helps.

By the way I think this is a great idea. I work at a cell phone company that has a program like this. We pay $15.00 a month and swap phones out once a month.

The problem is if something breaks what do you do. does the company eat the cost or does the end user.

I would think the company gets insurance on these handsets

I would say that the company would require that the user has carrier insurance in order to rent.

I navigated through the site and found that they put your credit card number on file, and also run a crdit check prior to sending out the phone. But with them letting you get the phone online....WHAT ABOUT FRAUD? Its a starting business with what seems to be not too many recources to protect them. in my opinion, i think they should only work out of a retail location for the time being to protect them from being taken down by a$$holes with fake credit cards.

I just thought of an actual purpose this might serve. CDMA carriers dont offer many world phones, so u could rent while out of the country and go back to your handset in a month, or when u get back
