Funny but true they never do. I was just thinking the same thing the other day.

WiMax has several supporters around the world, but not just supporters its being deployed all around the world in more places then lte.

I say its funny because phonescoop still hasn't posted any info on this. WiMax is spreading fast and also is already proven to work. Sprint and Clearwire backed by Google and Samsung to name a few are going to bring 4g service to the US. Sprint is not alone and WiMax is the future ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Ahem, we've published 81 news items with the word "WiMAX" in them:

I promise you we are not biased toward any particular technology.

If a tiny carrier in rural Russia picks WiMAX, that's hardly a global trend or news-worthy. However, if all of the world's largest carriers pick a certain technology, then that is a global trend and is newsworthy.

The fact is, most carriers around the world have chosen LTE, even in traditionally fragmented markets like Japan, Korea, South America, and the US.

Personally, I would actually rather see WiMAX gain more traction and give LTE a run for its money. Most people dislike the fragmented technologies we've had in the US, but I apprecia...

Now you're talkin! Marketing is more powerful than the products themselves. If everyone would realize this technology, it would indeed keep LTE on it's toes. Wimax is very formidable and getting it into the consumer's hands sooner than later could prove at least to create the competition needed not to allow one choice to become a dominance of power that consumers would loose. That is why I am for Wimax as well. Not because it's better. Not because I am Sprint customer. But simply because it acts as a govern. The wireless industry has squeezed as much money out of the subscribers as it can. Why allow only one choice to dictate what we want or don't want on top of that? With all these carriers backing LTE, that is exactly what they have their ...

Phone Scoop and their staff will probably tell you that it is not their job to promote products. They are here solely to report news. This is true. However, some slack has been cut in certain areas and I do feel Wimax being a huge advancement from what we are used to, should be worthy of more coverage whether it is the path of choice or not. With Wimax actually being tested in Baltimore, this should at least have spiked an interest to get hands on experience. This indeed would be fair and wonder why they have not done so? Reviews are great and if an ATT rep can tell me that it is "Absolutely amazing and very impressive", then that says a lot to me.

Sorry Diamond. Wimax support doesn't look great at all. That list is not impressive. Whether WiMax is good or bad is not really the issue.

In the US and other major areas around the world LTE won out and therefor WiMax may never gain much traction:

"Our take: West's talk is sour grapes. WiMAX has no chance of building market traction in the U.S. with ATT and VZ Wireless committed to LTE for the 700 MHz spectrum they acquired in the auction. Further, there are no major U.S. carriers besides SPRINT and Clearwire (are they a "major" carrier?) that have announced plans for Mobile WiMAX.
What does that tell us about interoperability and roaming?"
