That would have been great in ... 2007

For unknown reasons, T-mobile seems to be following the business strategies of Motorola -- a company whose cellphone division is failing miserably. The zn5 is cool spec wise ... if it came out 2yrs ago and now is really late to the megapixel party.
But I digress. I'm curious why T-mobile decided to wait until almost 2009 to realise that it was important to add some new technology like advanced camera phones and touch-based phones to their pathetic moto-rizr clone line-up. To make things even better, most of their new phones don't even support their 3g frequency of 1700. Since that's the case, why did not use the nokia n73, SE k800, or samsung d900 to fight back in 2007 when they were being assulted by AT&T and their iphone. They could have...

Sprint has atleast one, the htc touch diamond [ 5 mpxl , Wifi, GPS, touchscreen, and Windows mobile -- probably among best phones feature wise. Verizon is releasing the cdma version of, samsung's omnia i910 [5 mpxl, wifi, touch, gps, winmo]. Att is getting the original samsung omnia.
So what I'm trying to say is not that releasing these phones is a bad thing, its just late. You should have consumer excitement when new tech phones come out. With the exception of G1, that was just not happening with t-mobile.
Look what the iphone did for at&t. Look across the atlantic to t-mobile europe and vodafone strategies in their exclusive deals to be first with high end phones.

Here is why tmobile does have much cunsumer excitement from other handsets besides the G1....they dont market there products very well...i work for tmobile, carry at&t and tmobile. have alot of friends who work for at&t, and frankly im more excited about the phones coming out for tmobile then the phones for att....again tmobile doesnt have the money at&t does to advertise sepcific phones...Seems like they didnt advertise the G1 till the phone came out, which obviously isnt the smartest thing to do, on a sales standpoint i wasnt to happy about it....but people were asking about it a month before is launched...seeing it first hand, people are excited about the phones we have coming out, its just not on a national level...where everyone is exci...

I think you hit the nail on the head in terms of the advertising issue. The g1 should have been promoted a whole lot more, especially since it was/is tmo strongest product in a while[maybe ever]. I think that they may have made the right call to mass release it via walmart and boost their revenue. The thing i don't understand is why tmo decided to wait until their 3g launch to unveil higher end phones when they could have done it all along if they would have advertised it right.

yes but how many of those 5 meg camera phones that the other carriers have or are going to get have a 5 meg kodak camera? this camera takes better pics than my 8 meg koday regular camera and it has panorama shot and a great flash. i have been in the industry for years and this is by far the best camera phone out there. but no 3g does suck.

The Touch Diamond is a 3MP Camera not 5MP.

T-Mobile is the only US Carrier at this time to offer a 5MP camera.
