They may not be one of the big boys but here in eastern NC they have the BEST network coverage not to mention their SUPERIOR customer service.

Check this out:

1. nationwide coverage
2. unlimited mobile/mobile to/from their cust
3. unlimited incoming calls
4. unlimited nights/weekends atarting at 7PM

I've had them since 1991 and have changed plans/phones many times over the years and they NEVER require a new contract unless you get some kind of promotion such as a new discounted phone.

Dropped calls are non-existent here in eastern NC and when you call customer service you get someone who speaks ENGLISH!

Alltel customers....come and get your love!!

Unnn......Verizon does not require a contract extension for a plan change. They were the first major carrier not to require it. Also, all Verizon call centers are located in the US, so you will get someone who speaks english.

Please get a clue before ranting in the future.

When I was with Cingular, they allowed me to change my plan without a contract extension when Verizon told my sister that if she didn't extend her contract she would lose night/weekend minutes, mobile to mobile minutes, caller id, voicemail, long distance, and detailed billing. She was near the end of her contract, so naturally when it was up, she switched to Cingular and also got rollover.

When I called Cingular...

I've been selling VZW for over five years, and I've never encountered a situation where you would loose those features without extending your contract. Even when we were dealing with the transition from analog to digital and the decommissioning of the analog towers, that wasn't the case. I would put more stock in the possibility that this was a misunderstanding of some sort or some less-than-scrupulous salesperson trying to scare you into an upgrade.

It was someone from *611 who said that she could keep the features when she changed plans, but only if she extended her contract. She didn't want to get locked into another almost 2 years, so she waited and left. She was trying to up her minutes because she was paying overages every month. I do remember that a rep in a store said she couldn't upgrade to a new phone until her contract was fully over, but that was at another time.

This, also, never happened.

Ranting?? Get a grip on reality! How are you going to argue with someone who's been with a carrier for that many years? Obviously you didn't read my post as I NEVER said Verizon doesn't provide English reps. Verizon may have been the first MAJOR carrier to stop contract renewals for plan changes but they were NOT THE FIRST CARRIER TO DO IT!

I started with Verizon and had a dropped call every other phone call. They allowed me to lower my plan but I lost all my features. But I didnt care because I just did it to so i could pay less to get my contract over with. Then I went to cingular and had the same problems. The rollover minutes are pointless, they just made me realize I was on the wrong plan when i have extra minutes. I paid my contract cancel fee. I am now with U.S. Cellular and I have yet to drop a call!! I recommend anyone that has any problems with their provider to give the company a try! You will not regret it!!

I work on the SD/NE border and we have people regularly moving from Nebraska to South Dakota where US Cellular doesn't have coverage (though they will soon, as I would imagine VZW will spin off the Alltel service in SD to USC to avoid a monopoly), and if you move out of US Cellular's coverage area, they will cancel your service AND charge you with the early termination fee. I'm sorry, but that's just dirty pool. VZW might not have free incoming calls, but at least they don't hose you like that.

jskrenes-

I too live near NE/SD boarded and I currently sell on the business data side for Alltel. I too believe the USC is the best fit for the Alltel market here. Do remember that USC equipment is very old and the do not currently offer EVDO. In fact until last summer Alltel roamed off of them. They removed USC from their PRL because " USC does not offer us anything". However USC roams off of Alltel. Crazy how that works.

The flip side is no one can predict what is going to happen.... just guess and speculate.

And to the comment in the previous post.. Alltel was the first to offer anytime plan changes. Not VZW.

The poster was talking about the "national" providers. Even though Alltel has great coverage, they are still considered a "regional" company, so technically you're both right....
