Microsoft dosn't need danger to make a zunephone. If they were GOING To make one, they would have had plans to do so long before Danger.

Microsoft also doesn't need Yahoo in order to compete with Google, but they're trying to buy them anyway.

Microsoft has so much money that they often do strange things just because they can.

Microsoft is making a lot of "strange" acquisitions in a desperate fight for survival. If something is not done soon, the company will continue to die a slow death. Thats what's with these desired company bolt ons such as Yahoo and Danger.

I think we can all be spared the laundry list of current product flops, missteps, and eroding marketshare on almost all Microsoft fronts.

Making the Zune into a phone would be a premature move, but anything is possible when the sleeping giant awakes. Maybe microsoft should make the Zune into a hit and a household name first. The brand image is completely ignored by the market place.

As far as being a hit, its debatable, what makes the product a hit. No it hasn't sold more than iPod, but it was the most sold electronic gift during the Black Friday Rush the day after Thanksgiving.

Premature? No, as we all know Microsoft launches small features here and there to test the waters before releasing an official product, especially with phones. They already have Windows Media Player 11 on some windows mobile phones.

Microsoft is extremely far from dying, granted Vista was a flop, even after 5 or 6 years of development. The fact is, most businesses in the U.S. still run Windows, even most retail locations terminals are now Windows XP terminals. I don't have to talk about XBOX, and in the last 6 months alone they have sold...
