I don't know if it's great news yet. All they did is confirm what most people have assumed for quite some time now. The real news will come when we find out who actually wins the auction. And even then, nothing big will happen for quite some time.

It's not necessarily going to be cheap. I believe the bidding starts somewhere around 4 billion and it's estimated sale price is somewhere around 9-11 billion. Maybe pennies to a company the size of Google.
Once the spectrum is owned, it will be a long, long time before anybody will see anything over a large scale.
Put this into thought. The 850 and 1900 spectrums were purchased how long ago? And it took how many companies to build it out over the States?
All of the big five are in the bidding. If one them should win it, building out the spectrum would be relatively easy to deploy, just timely. So if a non-current wireless provider wins the bid, they would almost have to purchase one of the big five to do big things with it within the ...

What do I think? I think it will give the other carriers a run for their money that will only benefit the consumer.
