i like the idea of sending customers a message about overage. that would make all of our jobs easier.
...
I agree. I also think this will be a great move for Sprint because they really do offer a good product but they need something that could help generate some good PR.
...
NO THIS IS A PAIN IN THE ARSE!!!!!
Your phone will not call out or recieve calls until you get your welcome call from sprint!! when we did our first one of these it took 4 hours for the customers phone to work.. This is actually hassell. instead of telling a customer they can walk out the door and their phone will work you have to tell them to wait to receive this stupid welcome to sprint call.. 👿
...
uh no... When the customer makes their first call it is routed to Sprint's welcome call. So now to test the phone we are supposed to make a call to the cellphone instead of calling from the cellphone.
...
All carriers provide you tools to check minutes, data usage, and bill amounts on the phone. But, I will give Sprint the thumbs up for coming up with a pro-active idea.
😳
Wow, I can't believe I jst said that.
...
Desperate time and all that.
...
AT&T and Verizon don't charge you out the you-know-what just cause you downloaded a text message. They don't charge per kilobyte for picture messages. These are what kills the customer, whereas overage on minutes (what AT&T VZ customers worry about) is not that big of a deal because that is ALL they have to worry about.
No one on those carriers is going to have to pay a $53.00 download charge for 3 ringtones... plus the $1.99 they paid for the ringtones in the first place. Sprint is not setting an example, they are covering up other mistakes that still wont be satisfactory.
...
where do you get 53 dollars to download ringtones or music? if you have the basic 15 dollar vision or power vision pack you can get ringers and mp3's for .99cents.
...
He is high on vzw Kool-aid, still can't get over the $1.99 a MB data rates.
For the last time people, if some one is using more than 1 mb in mobile web data, they have a data plan to go with it.
...
Though I have AT&T.
But sure, 15 a month is great if you download tons of ringtones, but for a person who just got a new phone, wanted 3 ringtones, and downloaded them, but had no clue about vision... well that would be $53 plus $1.99 for each.
This is the kind of stuff that makes Sprint a bad company (CC-wise), because they advertise a certain dollar amount, then go and charge you per-kilobyte. Good customer care will explain the charges, but the real problem is that there are charges in the first place.
And I'm just as upset with VSW btw, cause they aren't the most honest about their stuff either. $1.99 /mb isn't horrible, buts its still lame. And don't get me started on their "unlimited" data.
...
I know all about 5 gig caps, and all that rot. I have read up on the NY Attorney General suing them, sorry to hear that you got jacked on your data charges. 😲
...
Twas my parents. Either way, just wanted to make it clear if I'm drinking any cool-aid its T-Mobile's, but I am still fully aware of their cons as well
...
What a marriage it would be if I could get vzws network, and t-mos unlimited data plans together....
Only in a perfect world. 😁
...
Verizon coverage and T-Mobile pricing/customer care?
Yes that would be a perfect world!
...
I liked t mobile when i had them, everything was fine except coverage. So i went back to sprint. Im gonna try out verizon this christmas.
...
Bring your wallet cuz your gonna get rapped at verizon.
...
Oh, yeah and we will invoice you for the amount of lube we will use too...
😳 🤣

Verizon does not make people rap. Nor hip-hop either.
You're thinking of Boost.

The Perfect Cell Company Would be At&T Coverage area on Verizons voice network with Sprints data network with T-mobile's CC and pricing. IMHO of course.

Since when did Sprint start selling 0.99 ringtones??? The last time I checked they were 2.50 and the full tracks are 0.99
...
...if you do not have a data plan, Full songs/ringers are $2.49/ a peice. WITH a data plan, its $0.99/ downloads for ringers/full length songs! 😉

..and for that matter, if Sprint ACTUALLY was charging this supposed $53 per month to download two ringers, the easy way around that would be to get a one month data plan and download all the content you want, then cancel before the next billing cycle.
Yeeesh! These fanboys on here make up the most ridiculous problems that really aren't!
...
I sell Sprint and the example I used was from a customer that came in complaining. Its totally true, it really happened, and to the average customer, especially ones who didn't ever have Sprint before (as was this specific case) there is no reason to think you would need a $15 plan just to download a few ringers. In the case of this specific customer, they didn't really want them, but were just a little bored and decided to download some. Had they known about the $53 dollars, or even the $15 vision pack, they would never have downloaded anything. There is a difference between $5 when you are bored, and $20. Its just not cool, and customers don't like it.
Same as getting charged per kilobyte for picture messaging. Sprint has the worst plan...

I paid about $10, not 15 or 20!
My mother-in-law recently downloaded one ringer, her bill was nowhere near 50 bucks.
You are exaggerating big-time.
...
Again, no I am not. It was three ringtones I was originally talking about, and the larger the file, the more it will cost. $53 and some change was exactly what this customer paid. Someone else has even stated that this is a reasonable amount considering sprints data charges.
...
Sprint charges $.03 per kilobyte for casual data usage. Most ringers are around 100 kilobytes and cost about $2.50 each.
Doing the math, that would cost, for three ringers, about $19.00. Hardly, $53.00!
...
I'm not saying I did the math or anything, but rather exactly what the customers bill said. You are the one making assumptions, I am reading the bill.
...
If they were charged $53.00 for 3 ringers, then the bill was wrong.
They need to dispute those charges, because $.03 per kilobyte for 121 kilobytes = $3.63. Multiply that by three, then add the $2.50 each for the three ringers, you get around 19 bucks.
I won't argue that Sprint's casual data usage charges are high, but they obviously do it to encourage folks who use the web to get a data plan. Is that fair? Probably not, but which is less fair, expensive casual data charging through Sprint, or the overpriced rate plans Verizon charges for regular voice plans?
Every carrier has a "gotcha". That's how they make money. Personally, I think it's better to be overpriced in an area that is less important, like data usage, than to be overp...

And I gave the customer all the proper instructions on how to take deal with customer service.
But you are missing out on one major thing. While it may be better for you and me (people who understand cell phones/plans/etc) people who sign up for verizon go into it knowing that it is more expensive, and understanding that they are paying for something that is "better", or so they tell themselves.
To the customer, they understand that. But when they download a couple of ringtones that, say we go by your numbers, costs them $20, well, they see that as straight up crafty. Why? They could have bought a WHOLE CD for that price!
So in the end, it doesn't matter which one is more "fair" because I do agree that Sprints pricing is technical...

Well, I'm glad we at least agree on the fact that Verizon is charging the highest prices for voice and giving the least amount of minutes in return. I can't even get some folks on this forum to admit that. How difficult is it to figure out that a company that only sells the "basics" is giving you less in return for your money than another company that gives you earlier N&W's, or free incoming calls?
I was only disputing the $53.00 amount for three ringers. I guess it's possible that the customer in question may have bought and downloaded the ringers directly from their phone, rather than using a computer for the transaction. Three separate instances of doing that might explain the other kilobyte charges, though I'm not sure.
If you are...

it is what's know as being customer friendly and they make a ton of money off overage charges and some people make an honest mistake and go over and it would help if they got a message. (see, i can type an extremely long sentence with no punctuation as well.)
...
like i said crackhead... vzw lets yoy know whn you go over with minute check, a feature that's apart of my account
...
FYI Verizon has a free minute check if you sign up for Myaccount

verizon wireless has been sending people messages when they are going over for years, its just not everyone gets a message every month due manpower issues taking all the calls.
