Ive got the Nokia N80 now and love it but always wanted an N95. But the big set back I had was, why pay the extra bucks for a phone doesnt even work to its full potential in the us? But now its here with all new memory an upgraded nokia GPS and more. Any news on ship dates cause im on the edge of my seat for this one. (Heard Sept but not offical)

Finally Nokia coming out with great phones instead of those lower end ones. They now see the demand for those high-end type of phones. Great transition.

Um, I'm sorry...but when did Nokia NOT make high end handsets?

Seriously. Nokia probably makes more high end phones than anyone.

the problem is we don't see them here in the US. just because we don't see them doesn't mean they aren't around people 😉

That really 👿 pisses 👿 me off how much Nokia caters to the European market!!!

Notice how many of they're best handsets support the 2100mhz band?

I don't even pay much attention to Nokia anymore because of that, and I will continue to not pay Nokia any attention until the day comes that they start supporting the U.S. 3G market JUST AS MUCH as they support the European market!!!

Um...ok.

1) Nokia is a European company. Why wouldn't it pay more attention to its home market than to a foreign one?

2) Nokia will never support the US 3G market as much as it the 2100 3G market. Why? Because it's a FRACTION of the size. And not only that, 850/1900 is only part o...

First, I'd buy that, but 850/1900 is not only US and Canada but alot of the America's.

Second, they seem have no problem supporting Telstra in Australia which is a fraction of the North American market.

Third, HTC, Palm, LG, and Samsung doesn't have a problem with this, why does the world leader in mobile communication do?

Ok, yes, 850/1900 works in other places but by making phones that operate on that frequency companies are targeting the US and Canada.

To your second and third points, I didn't say Nokia shouldn't make phones that work here. I said that it will never support this market as much as it does the European one.

And also, Palm is an American company, so it is essentially doing the same thing as Nokia by focusing on its home turf. HTC isn't American but it makes phones exclusively for use with an OS that is by an American company so it is also catering to its primary crowd.

LG and Samsung are more relevant comparisons. However, I would be curious to see how much they invest in the US versus how much they do in Europe.

Also, Telstra is much more willing to allow Nokia to do what it wants to do.

As a matter of fact, once T-Mobile USA's 3G network is fully up and running, I wouldn't be surprised to see Nokia working more with it much more than AT&T.

that's very true actually. T-mobile is definately focusing more towards Samsung and Motorola as the newer T-Mobile phones release.

and when it comes to nokia in the us market, they should realize that american's love to spend there money as soon as they get it, especially on the newest technology. 😉

I agree about the spending money on tech thing, at least for myself, ...but I do thing that the price is what's holding back the iPhone from seller more than it already has.

But yeah, we appreciate tech, just as much, if not more than Europeans! That's for damn sure!

honestly, from what i've heard from my customers, they don't want the iphone because AT&T carries it. that's 95% of the case to be honest. personally i having nothing against AT&t so i'm not being bias.

So your saying a lot of people are ATT haters? Hmmm,...heck, they've got rollover, a good amount of phones to choose from.

I don't understand why people are ATT haters! That's kinda sad.

I don't HATE AT&T but I definitely don't like the service either.

Ostensibly, they seem like a good company but with closer inspection I find T-Mobile is much better for MY needs. T-Mo plans tend to be cheaper for the price; with the roaming agreements, coverage really isn't all that different (at least in my experience in Texas); if I actually bought carrier-branded phones then T-Mo would be more accommodating for when I traveled out of the country; of course I DON'T buy carrier-branded phones and T-Mobile is much friendlier with unlocked phones (ie, I have access to all my features).

I'll admit that it would be nice to have 3G but it really hasn't been that big a deal for me. I don't do all that much browsing on my phone and when...

So what unlocked phone do you use on T-Mo? I have an unlcoed Sharp V903.

I can send/recieve txt msgs, but I can't send/recieve pix, or videos, nor do I have access to MediaNet.

I just like my phone so much because it has a 3.2mp camera, I enjoy taking pix of construction on the Las Vegas Strip.

Americans like to spend money on things that they think are worth it. The problem is, most Americans don't think phones are. They've been conditioned by carriers into thinking that phones are much cheaper than they actually are.

I'm sure that anyone here who works in a cell phone store can probably comment on this better than I can but I would wager that at least half the people who walk into a store to buy a phone go in asking, "Where are the free phones?" Of course, two months later they want that cool new phone that just came out and can do everything but they're pissed off that they have to pay full price.

I hear ya... Like I've said in the past. It's like buying a new top of the line PC but the integrated Cable or DSL modem, of which you also paid for, will only operate in Europe but hey you have a Dial-up Modem that will work here.
