Disgusting what lows people will go to just for a useless merger.

What's disgusting is that DEI was ever a thing. A prospective hire should be considered for a job on the basis of merit only, not because he or she checks off boxes that satisfy some artificial system of so-called fairness.

It sounds like you're describing affirmative action. DEI is not affirmative action.

You clearly have no idea about DEI or what it was in place for. I bet you support redlining, slavery and removal of civil rights from anyone non-white, non-christian, non-wealthy. Like I said, GROSS

Since you don't know me, I seriously doubt that you know what I believe in or what I support. In fact, you don't even know my race or ethnicity; you've merely wagered a guess based on your own feelings. I'm not white, and I don't support slavery or removal of anyone's civil rights, including mine.

What I am for is hiring people based solely on merit. Diversity and inclusion is hiring paraplegics to play in the NBA, but it's unlikely that demographic would help your team win ball games. Likewise, hiring a less-qualified person simply because they check off certain boxes will garner you similar results.

Again, you're describing affirmative action, not DEI. Despite what some of the current political rhetoric would have you believe, that's simply not what DEI is.

DEI and purely merit-based hiring are 100% compatible. DEI is merely having someone around who asks questions like "Are we being racist or biased, even unintentionally? Are we sure we're fairly considering all candidates, and treating them fairly once they're hired?" That's it. It's not a finger on a the scale for minorities. It's only making sure there isn't a finger on the scale for straight, cis, white men.

What is the determining factor in realizing that "the finger is on the scale" for straight, white men? Wouldn't it be the majority of a workforce being comprised mostly of that demographic? If so, what is the remedy? Wouldn't it be to not hire anymore of the majority demographic despite their qualifications? You're making a distinction without making a difference.
