HTC Iris Approved By the FCC

Yeah,...but I could've sworn I read it being referred to as the Tilt when I read an article, on PhoneScoop I think about it coming out on AT&T, probably in November, I think that's when the 8525 came out last year.

I recall reading that the Kaiser is going to have a 3.2mp camera, but I didn't read the words "auto-focus", I can't imagine a cameraphone being 3.2mp's and not auto-focus.

I'm not really worried about cameras. I prefer to not have cameras on my phones.

I'm curious why???

Isn't the point to have an mp3 player, a quality camera, AND a phone, all in ONE???

Does it have anything to do with your job? Some companies are pricks and don't let cameraphones in the office, I understand.

Not my job, but I live in Baltimore, which is near Washington DC and I go a lot of places that don't let you have cameras. And I never use the cameras anyway.

Oh,...I'd never let anybody tell me I can't have my mobile phone, if I can't have my mobile phone I might as well be in hand cuffs!!!

Tell me to turn my phone off, I put it on vibrate, and so on, I'm very, strict about my phone not leaving me!

Well right now I have the Samsung i730 with Verizon but I might be getting a sales job at an AT&T indirect so I might be getting the 8525 and disconnecting the camera.

How the heck do you disconnect the camera? There are models available w/o cameras, aren't there? Why don'tcha just wait a few more months for the Kaiser to come out, you know it's not that much longer til it comes out, right?

Oh yeah, probably when the Kaiser comes out the 8525 will be marked down, maybe to $299.

Well, that's good that your leaving evil Verizon, I've been with Cingular for over 5 and a half years. And they're the only wireless carrier I've ever been with, I'm waiting for them to launch MobileTv, which is supposedly happening in the 4th Qtr.

Yeah I love the network but I hate their locking down of phones.

Really??? Is their network that much better than AT&T's??? I don't have any problems at all with AT&T's network, and I use an unlocked handset.

Not really, some places are a little rough compared to Verizon, but it's not bad at all.

I was told directly from our HTC rep the the "TILT" (as it will be know on at&t) will have an auto focus 3.2 MP camera.

the tilt is code-named kaiser and is a GSM / HSDPA device. i don't think this is a CDMA version of that phone. however, i could be wrong since HTC has a habit of giving CDMA and GSM versions of the same phone wildly different code names. but we have no proof to offer one way or the other yet.

You're right, the IRIS is not a CDMA variant of the Tilt (Kaiser). I was simply replying to some one else's TILT related question.
