Why a new non-hybrid iDEN handset?

I cant understand why Moto is continuing to produce these? I hope they just had a bunch in the pipeline from years ago and are just now starting to run out. The goal is to move voice off of iDEN, right? This surely doesn't help.

Because Moto doesn't care about moving off of the iDen network.. Sprint does.

Team that makes iDEN handsets is now making CDMA + WiMAX phones. Several prototypes exist with WiMAX and the "cable modem" like WiMAX devices and PCMCIA cards are already shipping.

There are still plenty of areas that do not run CDMA, only iden.

plus these handsets are NOT MARKETED TOWARD YOU, they are marketed toward contractors and other people that need a good rugged handset.

exxxxactly! There are small areas iden will cover and cdma will not, you have to keep the iden users happy with at least a new phone! Im glad to see it personaly.

What is really nice about this phone is how much thinner it looks... It kinda looks like a motosliver with walkie talkie. It's way thinner than the other Nextel phones! Not bad for a bar style phone.
