Finally! I couldn't stand nextel any longer so i switched to sprint. The ability to use the walkie-talkie between is so great 😁 but from what i have read/been told it seems it will still be quite some time before the Sprint PTT will match Nextel's. They mentioned Rev. A sprint does not have that widely deployed yet, and even with a year or so it will not cover the same area's as Nextel's. Hopefully they could make it so it could be used on each of sprint's platforms since it is IP based, if they make it usable on 1xRTT or 1xEV-Do rev. 0 so that even if it is not as fast you can still use it.... but still very exciting news. Way to go Sprint 🙂 😁

I highly doubt that you won't be able to use HPPTT outside of Rev. A data coverage. I would believe that Sprint would make it backwards compatible on Rev. 0 and even 1xRTT. It's like the Sprint Music Store, it was not an available feature on any phone unless it was EV-DO capable but you can still access and download music from the Sprint Music Store in 1xRTT data, it's just not as fast. Same thing goes for Sprint TV, it will work on 1xRTT but the video tends to be choppy and you experience buffering. I would believe that HPPTT would work out of Rev. A coverage but it would probably affect quality and connection times/latency.

Also by the time HPPTT is out I think that EV-DO coverage, atleast for Rev. O, will be on par with 1xRTT so it shouldn't be much of a problem.

that was my whole point, whenever i use the Sprint TV or music store in a 1xRTT area, it is terrible. Sprint is far from being completely ready to launch a technology that can compete with Iden even slightly. I don't think i can wait 😢

Why would they COMPETE with iDEN
You want W/T right now, get an iDEN or powersource phone.. simple

i have one... no actually two of them. I dont need it that badly all im saying is that it will be some time, and i cant wait for SPRINT to have an alternative that is reliable, and fast.

I mean maybe it won't work at all on 1xRTT which doesn't really bother me but what I was saying was that by the time that HPPTT is out, EV-DO Rev.O may be rolled out on all Sprint towers, therefore not having to worry about 1xRTT.
