No.

Creating a new national carrier out of thin air is hard, and very expensive. Both Amp'd and Helio are/were losing money hand over fist.

The difference is that Helio has corporate parents with deep pockets who got into this game expecting it to be very expensive. They're in it for the long haul, and are happy to keep pouring in megabucks until it finally takes off.

Amp'd didn't have that kind of backing. They had a few investors, but the whole plan hinged on turning a profit relatively early on (which seems pretty unrealistic in hindsight.) Helio's plan allows them keep losing money for a while longer before it becomes any kind of grave concern for them.

Would this benefit T-Mobile in any way such as gaining rural coverage?

Amp'd was strictly an MVNO. They didn't own any towers or spectrum. They only rented use of Verizon's CDMA network.

It will benefit t-mobile customer wise, because the people that were with amp'd can take advantage of flexpay, and pay in advance without activation fees or deposits.

myspace.com is for losers.

But anyway Helio is next. Don't think they don't know what happened Amp'd. They may be in it for the long haul but there comes a time when you realize you're losing too much money and it's not going to go anywhere. They will concede defeat sooner or later and they should. Their prices are ridiculous anyway

Good. I hope Helio is next...and right after them, every other silly MVNO...Alltel, Amp'd. Helio, Cricket etc..what a bunch of coat tail riders..thinking that they can offer and keep with with the real carriers...none of these companies have there own service, they just "rent" it from other carriers and then go on national tv and bash them...cough:::cough:::Alltel:::cough. when they can afford to put up thousands of there own towers and not have to depended on someone else THEN they can run there mouths...I say good for VZW for tellin amp'd to poop or get off the pot...and after the MVNO's comes the third parties...what a bad name they give all of us...if I had a nickle for every time a customer came in here and said " the booth gave me a h...
