Instinct UI Question

So the "home" screen on the m800 Instinct is just the menu, like the iPhone? So the user CANNOT apply any sort of wall paper, let alone change the color of the UI itself.

I'm really wondering why Sprint was so afraid to include the Samsung TouchWIZ UI that just launched in Korea. Now that would have been really innovative compared to this bug-ridden build from the ground up (WHY??) fisher-price looking user interface.

It is my opinion that they should have let Samsung design the UI themselves, not outsource it to a 3rd party company. BAD idea.

The problem is that Sprint has all kinds of apps and services that they need on the menu. Any time Sprint has tried to apply their requirements to a manufacturer-designed menu, (which would be all of their non-entry-level phones in the past few years,) the end result has been a confusing mash-up of inconsistent options that are a confusing mess for anyone who's never used a Sprint phone before.

With the Instinct, Sprint has re-designed the options from the ground up, and it all makes complete sense. I have to say I really love the sensible structure of the menus. I can't remember the last time I said that about a Sprint phone.

It's also highly customizable. In fact, the default home menu is a custom list of whatever shortcuts you choos...

Also one thing to remember is the phones used to demo at CTIA were also beta/ prebeta phones on the Instinct. The fact that this one was outsourced to be developed was one of the best ideas that could have been done. It was produced by people that are not in the "machine" of phones, it was done more as a user friendly UI.

I agree with ogfish entirely. At first i was like why would they outsource for a phone OS but its makes perfect sense. Sprint needs certain apps that samsung would have a hard time incorporating into the touchwiz UI, and sprints results for creating their own custom UI has turned out to be disastrous. So i think outsourcing was an extremely smart idea
