Yeah, your future as a viable carrier depends on it.

And look at metroPCS go...it's beginning to look like the start of a minor player.

Maybe, but as it stands, Tmobile isn't much of a competitor to Cingular.

Right, because as we al know, Cingular has the "fewest dropped calls."

I would love to know exactly what that "leading independent research company" was looking at when they did that study. I haven't dropped a call with sprint in years and my sister has Cingular and when I was with her she was dropping calls and reception all day long.

That's the name of the company and what they're were looking at was all the zeroes on the check that Cingular sent them in order to complete this study.

This is also the same company that ranked T-Mobile #1 in the Top 28 US Markets as well.

Tell you that "Telephia" is the "leading Indepent Wireless Research Company"

Does anyone agree or not agree with this company as being the leading? Just curious as to the reputation on this company?

See for yourself in the section marked: "Adelante"

I was actually referring to the fact that Cingular has ample spectrum and high speed data services, while Tmobile clearly lags behind.

Funny thing is, according to the same company that supposedly rated Cingular with the fewest dropped calls, T-Mobile was #1 in fewest dropped calls in 28 of the 57 tested markets. Add to that the J.D. Power & Assoc. #1 in Call Quality in 4 out of 6 markets (#2 in the other 2), and I have to say: it's awesome that T-Mobile is bidding for more spectrum. It can only get better for the customers who are already getting the best customer service, fewest dropped calls nationwide, and best call quality in the nation. ;D

I dont know what JD power and associates you're reading, but they were #1 in 3 markets. And in my market, the Southeast..they were ranked dead last.

J.D. Power and Asscociates is not the company that cingular is using as the Leading Independent Wireless research Company. It's Telephia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cingular_Wireless »

"During the first quarter of 2006, Telephia reported that during an extensive nationwide test of major wireless carriers, Cingular Wireless dropped the fewest number of calls across the country. Cingular in turn began advertising with more aggression the "Allover Network" citing Telephia as "the leading independent research company." This was in stark contrast to the Consumer Unions published "Consumer Reports" which slammed Cingular for static and dropped calls.

Telephia initially refused to provide details on its study, and a spokesman for the compa...

By spectrum they mean ranges of radio frequency to be able to provide more content/features.

As it is now, T-Mobile cannot offer 3g (3rd generation) services such as Verizon's V-Cast because of this lack of spectrum licensing. This lack of spectrum hinders their ability to compete against the major carriers as they all have either rolled out or are in process of rolling out a 3g technology. T-Mobile is far behind not only in subscribers but in technology.

EDGE is 2nd (2.5) generation technology and T-Mobile will need to upgrade to HSDPA (3rd generation) in the near future to offer even greater speeds which will allow them to provide media content such as music/videos.

High speed data services will mean T-Mobile will be able to compete with the other national carriers that are already offering 3G. Sprint is already rolling out 4G next year. If T-Mobile can roll out 3G, then that's more customers. More customers means more money overall including for the employees, such as raises and bonuses. Use your head.

OMG! APWFAN69 you're making T-Mobile employees look bad! I can't even start to describe the benefits this will have for T-Mobile. For starters, more roaming capability with the rest of the world. Parts of Europe, Austrailia, Jordan, South Korea and Japan all have 3G so soon you'll be able to roam in those areas and use the services 3G offers. (Like streaming/real-time video & voice at once) And you may say, "I never got to those places." But alot of people do. I work for T-Mobile as well and I go to Europe atleast twice a year and I love using my handset there. This is one of the biggest things in our company and make us more of a major player with the other big 3. It'll take some time because you need to build the network once you have spec...
