the FCC forces the carriers to make sure most of its consumers are e911 compatable but doesnt rush the 911 call centers to become compatable with the tech that the carrier uses. 😕

am i missing something?

nope...that's about right. example using the FCC:

FCC doesn't talk to DHS doesn't talk to FBI doesn't talk to CIA doesn't talk to NSA doesn't talk to anybody.

see? it's beauracracy at it's finest.

Sort of. The call-center issue isn't up to the FCC. States and localities fund and run local 911 call centers, and so far most of them have had trouble finding money for the necessary upgrades.

The Fed did try to help by sending money to the states, but many states diverted that money to other uses. ☚ī¸

I don't think the FCC has the legal jurisdiction or authority.

Federal system, state power, etc...

Even if they could, it would be an unfunded mandate. Like I said, the problem is money, not laziness.
