well, the secondary markets arent as important to first markets as well as other growht markets, and they feel that this market they will enter will be a growth one instead of secondary markets..

by the way, ev-do rev o will be expanding in 2006. by end of 2006 it should be nationwide with REV O. REV A will be turned on in some areas in the 1st qt of 2007, and end of 2007 REV A will be nationwide.

where are you located?

In Tri-Cities, Washington state (Richland, Pasco, Kennewick are the three cities). My zip code is 99336.

Maybe a little insight as far as when they will launch in this area? Will they be launching in my market any time soon??

Unfortunately the Tri-Cities and Spokane are not yet Sprint Corporate markets. They are under an affiliate named Ubiquitel. Ubiquitel is probably the least progressive affiliate Sprint has. You will probably not see EVDO service there until Sprint buys out Ubiquitel.

Actually, the Tri Cities was Alamosa, but no longer. Spokane is still under the reign of Ubiquitel though.

Hey, Cap'n Recital, he's referring to the fact that he's American and can't get EVDO service.

maybe Sprint feels that a lot of the people who are signed up for EVDO data cards are more likely to travel to Canada (meaning tons of ROAMING revenue for them) than there are new domestic sign ups in secondary markets. Telus is probably putting most of these towers up anyhow so not much is actually coming out of Sprint's pockets.

To be short and to the point:

Sprint could potentially get more money from Canadian roamers in primary markets than their own customers in secondary markets.
