Does it work with iMessage or send to iMessage users as SMS?

Would be nice if it interfaced directly with the full feature set of alternate messaging services.

iMessage is a service they will be competing with. I don't think its a coincidence that Android devices get it first. My guess is it will hit iPhone in a year.

The Device has to support RCS for this system to work. From what I understand, there are no plans to include any iPhones, at all. iMessages already closely resembles Advanced Messaging.

You're most likely correct, no currently released iPhone would ever support this.
