Didn't Sprint just file suit againest Vonage because VOIP? Now Sprint announces they are going to start hopping into bed with different cable companies. Hello! Cable companies offer VOIP.

Perhaps someone at Sprint could explain.

Who do you think is providing the VoIP backbone to most of the cable cos.? It's Sprint. I don't know the basis of Sprint's lawsuit v. Vonage. But, Sprint has long history in the packet voice arena. They developed a short-lived, mis-marketed product in the late '90s called ION, which delivered voice & data converged over a packet core and access network. In their ILEC territory, they've had a C2P (circuit to packet) initiative in place for several years, where they changing the tradition, TDM, circuit switched class 5 end offices to packet switches. And over the last couple of years they've been enabling many of cable cos. to deliver packet voice. So, I don't necessarily think it hypocrisy.

Depending on the basis and claims in the laws...

yea, sprint sued vonage becuase they think they violated a patent or few. the thing is vonage might either file for an IPO or want a $2 billion buy out.. you know who the rumored suitor is? sprint.
