In the future when Nextel customers are merged into cdma will they still offer cool durable phones like the Motorola i560? I guess what I’m really asking is will current Sprint customers have a much different selection of phones in the future like the Motorola i560. I guess I said the same thing twice. πŸ˜•

There will continue to be a line of Nextel iDEN phones - just like now - for at least the next couple of years.

After that, I am sure Sprint will try its best to listen to the needs of its customer base. I would guess that the eventual new lineup of CDMA phones for former Nextel customers won't look too different from what you're used to.

I want to know when will the customers be take advantage of the both company's towers? What are the short term advantages for the customers due to this merger?

This sounds like it will be three times the work the Cingular will have to do as far as integration.

nextel will now start to co-locate with sprint on their tower plans and at 2007 they will start to bring over some of their spectrum, network and towers to the cdma side of sprint's network.

short term advantages? better services and products. more covered pops and better coverage areas with more towers and spectrum that will help increase(improve) coverage/capacity.

it will be a difficult task but nextel/sprint with their managment and their CTO (which is the best) can get it done. if they can get through the re-banding plan without any problems the integration will be easier.

by the way please dont bring cingular and compare it to nextel/sprint are a lot better then cingular with mgmt, espeically in the cto area, and that is w...

I was joking also πŸ˜‰ . I just believe that this is going to be hell on the small guy.

I do make an exceptional living as a businessman. Maybe one day I may venture in the gipsey business if its lucrative. 😈 No, I'm fine with what I do. I do take an interest in this industry because I rely on it so much.

No they will continue to build towers rapidly until the integration starts to happen. Both companies will spend billions and add thousands of towers per year nationwide to expand their coverage and to increase capacity. Yea, the only short-term thing I can think of would be that there will be more services, however, in the long term it will be very helpful. Such as dual mode phones, qchat, ev-do rev a, perhaps wimax and new products and services.

They have been combining towers (well planning to) ever since the merger has been announced but they need to actually enforce it and they are now allowed to since the FCC and doj have approved the merger.

Everything is very rough on many customers when there is a merger that is just what ...

Well said my friend. In the long term this will indeed be a very competitive company.

My question is when will coverage be better as of result the merger? That is (from my observations) is Sprint/Nextels greatest issue.

Thanks and I appreciate the kind words.

Exactly. Combine their spectrum, their network, their strong product and services line and their management that is the best in the industry they will be a very strong competitor against cingular and verizon. In addition, $12+ billion in synergies which is very important.

In general, short term outlooks isn’t good because they are just beginning, but when you look at the long term outlook the company should be strong, especially if the management core is good.

I can’t really say when because of the quiet period that we have now, however, after 2 weeks I will be able to explain a lot more then what I can. I can say this though, starting now they are working on their co-locations of towers ...

Thanks for the comments. I will definitely check in to get more info. I'm interested for a reason. My only problems was the coverage and customer service. Since I've learned of the amount of towers that they have combined I looked into possibly getting Sprint for a project that I have planned.

My pleasure. I am here to help so please ask questions and I will do my best to help you out. (Goes for everyone else too)

Yea, sprint is not doing well with their customer care; however, they have improved over the years. Nextel, well, they have great customer care, however, you can always improve in many facets of your business to try to improve customer retention and improve the all-important metrics. (Such as arpu, churn, lifetime revenue per user, sub growth etc...)

They will have about 40,000 towers, and they are building thousands more every single year so they will have a very nice tower base as well as spectrum. (And other things)

What project are you working on with sprint?

You can always email me if you want.

My good friend and I are going to start shooting some scenes for a finished script that we have(totally independent). We were looking into a couple of Blackberry 7750 for us and some sanyo mm-7400 for a staff of 29 people. I was impressed with the readylink. It would be helpful, furthermore the crew would be easily accessible due to that feature. The only complaint across the board from all of the staff was what I mention to you. He is located in Phili and I am in northern Jersey/NY market. First scene is on Temple's campus which gets horrible reception. It was at top of the list because of pricing also. Got to run for now.

Yeah that's what he says....then after you ask him something he says his "sources" won't let him divulge that info....sounds a little fishy to me.

You think that sounds fishy, try telling him he's wrong and proving it. Everything becomes a non-event and he starts twisting things around. He just likes to blow smoke and sound like he knows imaginary inside stuff. I read his posts for laughs more than anything.

In addition to what i said, Rich Brome said it best. (they will try to do everything to serve the customer's needs. so far sprint and nextel as seperate entities have been doing quite well. now, take them together and it will be great. the phones as well as the network and other things)
