What I don't get is how Sprint is just gonna "not offer Nextel in those affiliate areas." What about existing Nextel customers in those areas?

I'm sure Sprint/Nextel will find a way around it.

My guess would be that if they don't want Nextel in there, then they're not there anyways, so it won't matter. It's not like either company has that great of coverage anyways.

of course i do, i have been debating about it with a member on here and doing the calculations and i am a shareholder of partners so yes i do realize the pops covered and how many subscribers each affiliate (that is publicy traded) has.

Well I suppose that if you were the owner of one of those affiliates and had a preexisting non-competition clause in your contract with Sprint then you would be interested in protecting your interests as well. What is happening is that with the merger Sprint corporate will be incrouching on the Sprint affiliates territory. As far as the money is concerned when a customer activates service at an affiliate store that store gets paid. If Sprint corp will start to activate services in the same area it becomes a problem.
