umm, I have spoons made from metals more precious than this phone.

What about Magnesium alloy? How about using lightweight Titanium?

0.5mp for the camera? When Samsung now has a 5.0mp phone? hahahha!

it's going to be ridiculous if they try to sell this hyped up piece of junk more than $400.

The answer to your question is below. Quite simply, below are 20 phones that have AT LEAST one megapixel. Some of these models may have more than 1 mp. If your carrier describes the phone that has a MEGAPIXEL camera, this means the camera has a resolution of 1.3 mp.

Audiovox / UTStarcom CDM-8920 / PM8920
Audiovox / UTStarcom CDM-8930
Audiovox / UTStarcom CDM-8940
HTC Magician / MDA Compact / xda II mini / JAM
Innostream INNO A11
Kyocera Koi KX2
LG MM-535
LG VX-8000
LG VX-8100
Mitsubishi M900 / M430i
Motorola A668

My bad.

We were discussing a GSM handset and I assumed my question would be understood as which GSM handsets. I appreciate your list, but Cingular only carriers the MPX-220 here in the North Texas region (and it is discontinued here). The only other handset is the SE S710, which is $400 and does not fit your price range.

Actually you should be able to get a samsung P777 for about 100$ less through customer care, the local store, or through the Cingular website. It does have the megapixel camera but it just wasn't listed in the previous post.

Well then your market is not that great. When doing a phone search in the phone finder, just type in your specific requirements. PS... You can buy an actual CAMERa sans PHONE for cheaper. I bought a KODAK 4 MP for about $150.

Personally? YES. I have a camera phone (V220 w/ VGA resolution) & the mega-pixel camera-phones aren't that great anyway. The resolution is less to be desired. Right now, the resolution standard is 1.3 MP (which is just a step above WEBCAM resolution). Plus, camera-phones tend to be an unwise investment.

Think about it this way...

I upgrade my camera every 3-5 years. I upgrade my phone every 6-12 months.

That's true, you can get both separately for higher quality and cheaper. But, are you more likely to carry your camera AND phone with you everywhere? Or, are you more likely to carry your phone with you everywhere?

For me, it's the latter, which is why I think this convergence of multi-devices is great, ie, camera, mp3 player, pda.

You know in some parts of Japan, people don't even need to carry their wallets anymore, they just pay using their celly.

How many handsets do you see with a stainless steel outer shell and stainless steel ball bearings? Yeah, that's what I thought.

Not many, but it's nothing special. Nothing enough to make this phone cost what it more than likely will, like a different website stated, around $1,000.

This is for the drones that only care about lo...

Ummmm...I think you are missing the point on this phone. If you have the money to spend on a phone that is $800...then you ARE looking for a status symbol!!! That is what this phone will be. If you can afford stainless steel and ball bearings in your handset, then you are a connoisseur. And I hate to tell you....but this phone works very well. I played with one the other day. I have not felt a handset that feels as solid as this one in a long time. Not to mention the functionality of the applications and the connectivity. The RF is good on it as well. The metal case does not interfere with the reception. The antennae has a plastic shell over it.

This is hyped up. Stainless ball bearings, sure that's cool, but for 800 bones, I would want the outer shell to be made of a magnesium alloy or lightweight titanium.

I'm sure it works well, it just isn't worth dropping 800 benjamins for this "status symbol." You know stainless steel doesn't cost that much to manufacture, so all you're paying for is hype. Which is fine I guess for people who are into those things.

I would be impressed if the materials or technology justified the price.
