Samsung Epic 4G Battery Issue?

I have a friend who has a Samsung Epic 4G and he is having issues with the phone malfunctioning. He thinks the reason the phone is misbehaving is because of the battery. Some of the things the phone does are the following:

- He will pick the phone up to use it or answer a call and the phone answers by itself

- The phone shuts itself off

- The camera does not work

- The capacitive buttons do not always respond

- The battery meter, which is supposed to go from red (low battery) to blue (fully charged), it will go to blue and then switch to red and stay that way.

Can the battery be purchased from the Sprint store online?

Epic Vs EVO

Just got the EVO now as I read the reviews here Epic seems more and more tempting. Has anyone had the evo and returned it for Epic.

Want to know what things you like about Epic that Evo doesn't has.
Camera pics and video are way better on the Epic. From the camera settings to the brightness of the rear flash to the hd video playback the Epic owns. The Screen makes the Evo look like dlp vs the Epics Super Amoled. The Speed and smoothness of the Ep...

Anyone have rumor info when the Epic is going to be "eligible" to update to the new software?
If you haven't seen it already, it's available on the samsung website for the Android Froyo 2.2

EPIC is epic... But the Battery is an EPIC FAIL

I have to say that it sucks to walk into my local SPRINT store, where I know them as I've been doing business with them for 10 years or so, and, when I mentioned that I had a battery that was dying fast, have them ask me if I had my BT shut off.... Really? I have to disable a critical function of the phone in order to be able to use it? That makes NO SENSE!

Also. And I find this most laughable... everyone is saying to make sure that the 4G is off... So... Is it rude for me to notice the elephant in the room called SPRINT's advertising of 4G as the Second Coming, but also point out that we're being told not to use 4G?

The solutions out on all of the web sites is to add software that disables data communications when the phone screen ...

I dont work for Sprint, hell I despise Sprint, but I have to defend them from your ignorant rant. Yes, if you use numerous applications, leave your bluetooth on and use 4G data (2G drains slowly,3G moderately faster and 4G fastest) the battery will r...

I'll agree that the battery life is probably not the best, but it's not the worst either. I am not using 4G, partly because it's not available yet in my area, and partly because I don't need the speed for browsing. I didn't buy this phone because it's...

Does the Epic 4g play all/most/some/no Flash games w/Froyo (Android 2.2)?

I'm choosing beween an Epic 4G, EVO 4G, iPhone 4, and Samsung Focus as my next device.

Being able to use the Epic 4G's keyboard to play Flash games would be an important factor if it has that capability.

Has anyone here taken the plunge and updated to the unofficial (right?) release of Android 2.2?

Unistalling sprints pre loaded apps...

Im not sure how to get in to my ROM and unistall certain sprint apps and also keep other apps to only open when I need them. I have a task killer but i get sick of killing them every 15-30 min. any help would be great. thx ๐Ÿ˜ˆ ๐Ÿ˜ˆ
Google "how to root epic 4g", root it, then get an app like root explorer to easily remove the sprint bloatware. Check forums like xda-developers.com and sdx-developers.com to find out more info on what your epic can really do.

What case do you own for the Epic?

I'm guessing the majority of you Epic owners have phone cases, including myself. My Epic arrived today along with the Seidio Innocase I ordered. IMO the only case from a reputable company out with a case for the Epic now. It does not feel as snug as the Innocase for my Treo Pro but it will have to do until someone else develops a case.

Share the cases you guys have as I'm curious to know as there are not many to begin with.

LED flashng and notification tones

I have the "flash continuously" box checked off but the red LED doesn't seem to flash continuously for unread messages once he screen goes to sleep. If I press the pwr button to wake up the device the the LED starts flashing again but that defeats the purpose.

Also, any way to get different notification tones for different events lie SMS vs Email vs Calendar?

Thanks

Inside each of those applications they have a settings option when you press the menu key. Make a notifications folder in your storage card's root folder (not inside another folder), and drop sounds into it to make them appear as notifications options...

Oh and the LED...I haven't seen this issue (the light never shuts up until I check what I've missed). Possibly try and wipe the device and see if it changes it.

How many people are sick and tired of waiting?

I am sick of waiting for the Epic 4g so I lost some hype. Not as excited as a month ago. I pre-ordered the phone at my local Radio Shack on Aug 13th and will not buy it on launch day. The wait seems like its a couple of months until release day. I only qualify for a $75 upgrade and Radio Shack retail price for the epic is $550. That means im only getting $25 off of the $499 price using my 1 year upgrade. Totally not worth it. I will use the $50 gift certificate toward something else and read reviews on phonescoop. As soon as I find a new epic 4g for $400 out the door on Craigslist, then I will buy it.

Epic reviews

Cnet, Engadgetmobile, Gizmodo and several others all have reviews up. Despite a few minor bugs that should be fixed, and some dislike of touchwiz, all call this a killer phone.

where should i buy the epic?

been loyal to radioshack and bought most of my cell phones there for years and i just heard they have a pre-order for the EPIC that starts tomorrow. just put a $50 down payment and they guarantee you a phone on launch day.

but, its a $50 RS gift card? what if i can't get to the store by the end of the two day hold at launch, gotta buy rs stuff. not bad but, who else has a deal like that?

who else is doing a pre-order and what are the other deals out there?
I reserved my phone through premire on sprint. it reserved the phone at a "local" sprint store. i was eligible for the full upgrade rebate of 150, so out of pocket ill be paying 350$ with 100$ mail in rebate. Not sure what the deals are with RS. The t...

There's no mail in rebate at radio shack, $249.99 out the door. I can use the $50 gift card to purchase the epic. So I don't have to wait for a rebate. That's better than sprint's mail in.
