you know why this is...

You dont think this has anything to do with Apples iMessage coming out soon do ya? This is AT&T's way to insure people dont skimp out on Texts
Raising prices ensures that people will CONTINUE using text messages?

Huh? If they had slashed prices by 50% you'd have a point, but you don't encourage people to sign up by raising the price and limiting options.

And at any rate, why woul...

there's already apps out there like Kik and LiveProfile that are inter-operating system chat applications that mimic BBM already. there are more than just those 2 apps too. my text messaging usage has dropped since i started using these.

Very bold move here...

You want to get approval for a merger with T-Mobile... what's the best thing to do to show that the market will still be competitive? Oh, I know... let's eliminate low-cost messaging plans!

They must be very bold to pull this when they are still being examined for the merger.

🤨
It would actually be a very good move if they lowered the price of the unlimited plan....cut the price from $20 to $10 and you have the best deal in wireless....

We all know that over the long term everything is going to unlimited anyway, it's just...

This is a prime example of why am I trying to cut At&t out of my life. I am just waiting for my contract to expire (10 months to go). In the words of Bart Scott, "Can't Wait".

I have already eliminated my At&t home phone, At&t Uverse and one line...

new value plans - unlimited messaging per one line is five bucks, messaging for all the lines is ten.

If they could force you to change it without letting you out of your contract, they'd do it in a second.

ATT squeeze

I use the $10 for 1000 messages i try to save everywhere i can. But now this sucks for those coming to ATT. ATT is taking away options so they can increase their profits since they are slowing on growth.
This is just so ignorant.

No one 'raises profits to increase profits', least of all because that isn't how it works. Higher prices don't just automatically guarantee higher profits.

And I love the way that people condemn at&t for doing somet...

You got that right. I'm an ATT Blue customer for the past 7 years. I did my 2 yr requirement, then went on a month to month basis. I've been paying $43 including taxes for 2 phones with 1000 minutes.

Now ATT is closing down the system that my pho...

I'm sure most perfer everything unlimited

So is att going to cancel all calling plans and just offer 99$ unlimited plan only?
unl calling is 69.99, and probably not because most people do not choose unl calling in my experience. however most people do choose unl messaging, although it would be nice to still have an option for customer who tx a moderate amount.
