Activists Want 'Obsolete' Cell Tower Rules Changed
OMG!!!
Radio frequency interference, including Microwaves emitted from cellular towers (this includes AMPS, TDMA, CDMA, and GSM), is something that has not been proven to be harmful. Sure, individuals who live in very close proximity to the towers may experience physical discomforts that others do not, but to attribute that immediately to this kind of radiation is not the correct thing to do.
No matter where you live, pretty much, frequencies are piercing our bodies. 2.4 GHZ, 2.5 GHZ, 5.8GHZ, ...

Unless they are within 12 feet of the actual antenna, (that’s bit of a climb) the radiation from the cell site will have no affect. And even then, you will feel the effects of radiation sickness.(Headache,Nausea, and even hot flashes) you would pretty much know to get away from it.
It's like all those hippys that think Nuclear reactors are dangerous. Of course they are, if you physically insert yourself into the inside of the reactor. Everything has safeguards. If cell towers really did produce Ionizing or Gamma like radiation, we would know about it.

tell that to the people in Japan...
RF Radiation in Cell Towers, Nuclear Radiation in a reactor.
Everything is dangerout in extremes, but these groups that want these towers taken down or altered are over reacting huge. This is not something that we should be worry about or spending money on.
Additionally, these "obsolete" towers provide service to areas that have no Digital Towers. AMPS and TDMA legacy service is what these old towers broadcast. In very few areas, mind you, yes, but that is all they have. There are very few phones around that can still co...

Second, Everything I have stated is true! Cell sites antennas are only dangerous if you are within 12 feet of the actual antenna! that is a fact!!! I have worked on cell sites for 15 years. So I know the dangers of working on them. My point was they are not a danger to the public. Now granted I was not talking about micro cell you see on buildings around town. And those are also safe!
