Before update:
I did not have reboot problems before; however, I did have connectivity problems where 4G and 3G connections stopped working randomly throughout the day. I rarely used the hotspot since my connectivity was not dependable.

After update:
Have not had connectivity problems. My Facebook app still loads and works after this July 8/9 update. There may be better radio management which could lead to better battery life.

I'll post again.

Well...you would have to pay for it anyway. Update or no
That was a promo before the new data plans

So what your telling me is that if you did NOT have the hotspot feature on your account, and you used that feature, it would be automatically added to your account? And that is a feature that has a cost to it?

Last time I checked, if a carrier adds or removes ANY kind of chargable feature to your account forcefully without telling you, that constitutes a change of service, which voids the contract.

Well if u can remember back when it was extended, VZW sent a txt out educating all 4G phone users about the extension and if used afterwards that they will be charge the 30.00 fee for the feat. And they keep record of those txt sent to the phone too and exactly what the txt states also to back up their claim too.

When T-Mobile dropped sidekick data, they too send out text messages, several, to each and every sidekick user that had a data plan informing them of the date that data would be dropped. ---Still, in that situation, T-Mobile had to legally offer all those customers the opportunity to void their contract and not pay an early termination fee, which they did.

Even with a text message, or several, the carrier can not legally do that, as they have physically altered that individuals service (with or without their knowledge). If you go to use the feature, and at that time it says on your phone *using this feature will bear a cost of $30.00, please press ok to accept this now* or if it said *you must contact customer care to have this service ...

But the consumer was given direct consent. U sound just like the dummies who didn't know theory phone was tracking their location but accepted the terms of their location being tracked both by Google and VZW. We need to do away with the blonde moments and get common sense. Just like the McDonald's law suit about the strip search over the phone. Dummies like that needs to go back to school and learn some common sense.

When the user of that particular handset is a twelve year old kid who is not legally able to agree to such terms? There is a such thing as taking your Verizon *Bleep* sucking to new lows. Seriously. Get that thing out of your throat so that you can breath again and then maybe you will think clearly, too.

Is the contract in the 12 year old's name? Yeah, didn't think so. The adult who signed the contract is liable for anything that happens with that phone. If they don't set boundaries and guidelines with the 12 year old, guess what? Still liable.

Guess what? Then they cannot have a kid accept something which changes contract terms. That would be like letting that kid sign a legally binding contract.

I've had my Droid Charge since 5/20, and have NOT recieved such a txt.

I sure am glad I got mine at the time I did though. Cause unlimited hotspot will be available to me, for $30/mo, which isn't a bad deal. My apt's have free wifi, so I'll probably only use it when there us a problem with the wifi.

I never received such a text.... And Verizon is not going to automatically add something to your account without informing them. If that was the case then why did are the forcing people to call in to add the feature to their account.

No, it's not automatic.

Before the update, but after the 6th, the feature just didn't work for me.

After the update, when I try there is a message telling me to call customer care.

Either way, I have to consent to the feature to use it, software upgrade or not. The feature was both on the phone and a feature code in the network. Once the feature code expired, you had to add the new $30 feature, upgraded software or not.

The primary reason for updating last weekend was to resolve my connectivity problems. No resolution. Still lost connection to 4G/3G/1x data network at random times. Truly a smart phone since it was able to figure out the worst possible time when to lose connectivity.

Verizon support very helpful. They are shipping a replacement phone (no charge) in the hope that this will resolve my problem.
