Jitterbug and GreatCall
Now after getting some clarification, I take back the snide remarks about this particular MVNO. It looks like GreatCall has done its research. And I actually dig the Jitterbug phone. It's pretty neat (and damn, are those some large buttons!).

we have a remote control for our tv at home that measures about 12" by 5" and only has the most basic buttons....each one being about 1/2" by 1/2" square.....it's for old people but looks like it came from some giant's living room....I think it's cool.

i think some old people are gonna get offended.........like what the f**k im not that blind....what ever.
whats funny is that this thing actually has a dial tone when you open it.....i work at nextel and the other day i had an old lady come and ask me while her i205 had no dial tone when she turned it on.......i could help but smile and then lagh when she walked out of the store

LOL! that's the first thing I thought when I saw it. However, the toilet in my house is cuter than that phone.

Ithink old folks will get a kick out of it, they love big things.....(cadilacs, buicks, lincolns)....now jitterbug

willphase, when you're young it's hard to imagine being old, but trust me you couldn't be more wrong.
my mom is a specialist in services for the elderly. as people get older both eyesight and motor control typically weakens. that means that it's tought to read small print (not just on screens but on buttons too) and that it's tough to accurately press small buttons. my mom saw these phones and thinks they're a godsend. she's old enough that she's probably considering getting one and can't wait until jitterbug is available for the 1000+ people in the nursing home she manages.

I think this is a great service for older customers. Look in most home electronics stores; there is a phone with large dial buttons, marketed towards older or sight impaired persons.
I couldn't have imagined before working at a wireless carrier store how many people ask why there is no dial tone, or that they want a phone for their parent/grandparent but it needs to be basic (apparantly the free phones are too complicated in some cases)
This is the polar opposite of the firefly and similar kid based phones, still simple, and especially the three button phone, as simple as it can get and still make and receive calls.
Finally grandma can pimp out with her jitterbug, while callin' her peeps on her way to bingo!
