Full Acer Press Release

Acer next generation smartphone

100% Smartphone, 100% Tablet:

New York, November 23rd 2010 - The new Acer smartphone with the soul of a tablet perfectly combines the capabilities of a smartphone with a tablet-like format: a huge 4.8" widescreen with a 21:9 aspect ratio and a super cool chassis.

Its revolutionary design , characterized by a stretched out, thin and slightly curved shape, makes it a fascinating device that will not go unnoticed. Its full metal body, enriched by subtle wavy patterns, conveys a sense of timeless elegance. What's more, it offers a perfect fit in your hand thanks to its smoothly curved back and minimal width (64mm).
The front is entirely dominated by the extraordinary, multi-touch, high resolution 4.8" s...

"On the 21:9 screen you can watch a movie in its original format, for an engrossing cinema-like experience." 😳

There is no way I am going to supplement my 55" flatscreen with this. I would be the talk of the town if I watched a movie on the 4.8...

Which Carrier?

T-Mobile, AT&T?

It says HSDPA 14.4, so it would be interesting if it was like the 2nd or 4th hspa phone from t-mobile.
Hmm, well Tmo is bringing HSPA 21mb/s phones to market, but AT&T is only supporting 14mb/s at this time, as they ALWAYS tend to be behind everyone else, even T-Mobile.

So perhaps this beastly smatphone will end up with AT&T.

Wishing for Pentaband 3G

Why should someone have to choose between AT&T or T-Mobile. Let it have 3G on all frequencies.

Wow

Bigger than the Evo or Droid X?
But smaller than the streak.
No 4g radio. What a shame. Next spring most carriers should have added more 4g markets. Why would Acer introduce a nice looking phone with 3g phone in the spring. Not for me. I would only buy 4g phones in 2011.

And it's got the specs of one beastly smartphone too!!!
Yea suddenly my EVO feels small and insignificant now. 👀
